The first one (?) is "Taipeh Tower Chase (The Night Inspector Wang Died)"

the one with all the Fender museum intro talk (??)...i don't know!

The second one is "Stampede"

Thanks guys, I should have known both of those. I recognized Stampede as a cover Jon & The Nightriders did also.

I think the original is by The Scarlets.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

That Scarlets cut on the Birth of Surf Vol. 2 blows my head off! Those guys had some rockin' magic in the studio that day, especially for 1959!

Yes, I think I have Stampede by The Scarlets from one of the Strummin' Mental comps.

Shot from the side, so the sound isn't the best, but I think it captures the fun (and dancing!) of the IS set!

Many thanks for sharing the videos!!!
How I love all the bands at the Convention!!!
When the bands show started I got immediately incredibly impressed by Men of Mistery. They sounded amazing.

I cannot say for myself there was a band better than the others.
We as Wadadli were definitely the band with less experience together, so I already am extremely happy we had the chance to participate to this event with sooooo many good musicians! I'm quite satisfied with the show but I had the chance to take so many good examples... checking the sounds... learning some tricks. Really thank you very much for all we received.

Also what I liked is that the shows were very different one from each other. All bands had different attitudes towards the music and put all different ideas in. How much variety there really is in surf music today!!!

Here is a killer performance based on The Nocturnes covers of two surf classics "Baha-Ree-Ba" (Trademarks) and "Journey to the Stars" (Ventures).

Sax - Jim Frias (Chantays, Nocturnes, yes! an original 60's guy!!)
Guitar - Ran Mosessco (Sand Devils, Astroglides)
Drums - Norman "Baron Shivers" Cabrera (Ghastly Ones, Finksville 5)
Guitar - Danny Snyder (The TomorrowMen, Messhugga Beach Party, Frankie & The Pool Boys)
Bass - John Paul Balak (Tikiyaki Orchestra, Insect Surfers, Boardwalkers)

Thanks Brian! It was an honor backing up sax man extraordinaire and all around awesome guy Jim Frias in our tribute to his band The Nocturnes. He's the real deal and was there at the birth of surf. While playing I closed my eyes for a second and imagined I was at a stomp from back then. What a trip!

Playing with Ran, JonPaul and Norm is tons of fun and a real honor. Seeing how we've done this 3 times already we should probably come up with a name, how about The Conventioneers?

Man, I've had a blast every year we've done this. Ran, Danny, JP you rule! And Jim Frias, what can I say? You are THEE MAN. Looking forward to next year! If we're going to be The Conventioneers should we wear cheap business suits, comb-overs, and name tags as our band outfits? Very Happy
