The SS is out of production though, isn't it?
I thought about tapping the hummers on a Jag but my experience
with split HB's hasn't been all that good. To me, they seem to end
up sounding hollow and nowhere near what true SC's sound like.
The flaws you note on the Jags doesn't surprise me but would
also be what I'd expect on a Squier.
