What's your definition of obscure, Jeff? Your list is great, but
most of that stuff is pretty well known, at least by the hard-core
surf fans. But it's a real good start!
I find the Euro surf bands to be very different. Vibe for days!!!
Tremolo Beer Gut, Tubestone (covered here recently), the Treble
Spankers, Anacondas, Bradipos IV, Bambi Molesters, Bitch Boys,
Cosmonauti, and too many more that I don't immediately recall. To me
most of these are fairly well known, but to the casual surf fan,
they are undoubtedly pretty obscure.
