-Bruce,
Chill out alittle but please.
You weren't there.
I said in my original Post that Dave said they weren't going to
play it. But (WE) were all yelling for it. Dusty shrugged his
shoulders and said what the hell, lets give it to them.
Dick wasn't the headliner, he was only going to be playing with
Jimmy, Bus since Sam and Ron were there, and Jimmy can play drums
there were some full band songs. But about a half hour of it was
just the Dick and Jimmy show(Boreing). The Chantays and the Surfaris
were after Dick.
And Paul and Gil (The Duo Tones) Did Pipeline, and the Chantays
were there. I'm sure Paul wasn't being disrespectful of the Chantays.
As a Matter of fact, the only one who was rude the whole day was Dick.
The way he went on about nover being able to find/have a good drummer,
who could listen/take directions/play on the 1's. That was a major
slap inthe face of Dusty, and I believe he just said it to be an ass,
and is still mad at him for leaving.
I understand what you are saying, and I totally 100% respect Dick fo
rall his contributions to surf. But today the guy is 100% asshole
and a bitter and misserable old geezer.
Ron and Dusty didn't leave for no reason, they couldn't put up with
him anymore.
I could go on and on, but I've had personal e-mail exchanges with
Dick, and he's not pleasant or respectful to anyone in the surf
comunity.

He didn't want the audience's attention for his music diluted in any
way at all.

If I heard Dick Dale playing one of our songs, yes, I'd be totally
flattered and stoked! But for ME to presume to perform Dick's #1
SIGNATURE SONG, prior to Dick himself getting on stage - SORRY, I
find that inexcusably unprofessional and disrepectful. Like I said,
younger folk just ain't got the same level of artistic ethics these
days!
