Re: Ventures

jacobdobner - 13 Mar 2005 16:01:07

It isn't the American R&R Hall of Fame. It is the Rock and Roll Hall
of Fame. Any band can be inducted. It just happens to be based in the
US. Yes, the Shadows have earned it. So many bands have but will never
be recognized. Writing great songs should get a person in but that is
rarely the case. The Rock and Roll HOF is a board made of people
playing politics. Whoever sales records and still moves a good amount
of records will make it in. Ultimately it doesn't matter. Good music
will live on despite being in a HOF for music. The HOF is just a
gigantic tourist trap.
A HOF for such a wide range of music is impossible to run and still
accomendate all of those who qualify and should be in.
If there were a Instrumental Surf Rock Hall of Fame then there would
be no questions on the bands who would be inducted.

expect to see an act that was never promoted, never played on US
Top-40 Radio, and never sold more than a handful of records in the
U.S. - be inducted into an American Rock Hall of Fame?
