While looking for a foto (which I couldn´t find) I discovered a magazine from March 1995 in a free magazine (55.000 copies) called "Sonic Press" - Hamburg at Night. I believe I got it from Hermann Reuber who was one of the two agents that booked Dick Dale for a gig at the Markthalle on March 26th, 1995.
I was there like many many other fans of Rock ´n´ Roll and Instrumental Music who came from all over Germany to Hamburg. The concert was gigantic and while on the way home in a car our chests were still vibrating - pure Dick Dale Power Sound.
What I didn't realize back than was the the gig in Hamburg was announced as "The concert of the month" !!! For surf music fans like myself it was the concert of the past three decades - for the first time to be at a concert of the king of the surf guitar himself - DICK DALE.
I remember 17 years earlier in March 1978 Jim Pewter asked me if it would be good to send Dick to Germany and Europe. I replied that he is not that well known in Germany and a concert tour must be prepared. Jim added "meeting djs, shaking hands and so on".
Did you know that today is a special day? It’s the 9 year anniversary of the the world's number 1 surf music station and what an incredible nine years it has been! It’s hard to believe that even just nine years ago there was no radio station dedicated to surf and instro. In July 2013 we made that a reality, for the first time ever, with new bands being broadcast shoulder to shoulder with established acts.
