Formed in 2008 on the French “Silver Coast » by three musicians involved in the Surf, Noise and Garage Rock scenes (The Irradiates, Stef & Arno, The Taikonauts, Antena Tres, Shunatao…), Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards try to set Surf Music in the modern age by adding Punk Hard Core intensity and Noise Rock inventiveness. To set the things clearer, it’s like having Dick Dale swapping his guitar for a flamethrower while being backed by a robust, frenetic and tortuous rhythm section. Throughout the years, those « Brutal Surf Music » purveyors used to tour around the European continent from Lisbon to Berlin, Alkmaar to Beograd, without forgetting Livorno to eat an ice cream by the Mediterranean sea. 2021 sees the band releasing its fifth album, « Retrofuturisme volume II » (EU: ATRDR/Calico Records/Les Productions de l’Impossible – USA: Ottis Media Records) to complete a rich discography also loaded with some split records and several compilations appearances. The trio here reveals its interest for some musical freaks like Sun Ra or Chrome contributing to set the band a little more appart from « traditional » Surf Music, and showing its ability to have an unusual rhythmic and melodic approach to the genre. All that was once resumed by a member of the audience assisting at one of their shows : “Well, it is the most well organised sonic bloody mess I have ever experienced in my life!” Fredrik Thordendal.

The Ava Kant project starts in april 2007, but the band is really active in live sets in 2010. Initially they have a garage-punk attitude, playing covers of MC'5, The Stooges, Blue Cheer and other sixties bands. Their love with fuzz-tones continues until listening to some famous surf music compilation like "Lost Legends of Surf Guitar" and "Ramoneture Sessions". They licterally fall in love with Dick Dale's experience, reverb and wet-sounds. In 2008 they start to make our original surf music: wet-tones, spaghetti western sound and just a little bit of fuzz. Their first Ep called "Dr. Satan and Other Tales" come out in November, but in June 2009 here's the split vinyl 12" with the punk-surf band Alwaro Negro. Highwave Star is the name of their first entire record, published for the indipendent label Brigadisco Records (Itri, LT) in July 2010. After taking part in some compilations, they stars to have a more complex live attitude, touring first their Pontine Marshes in Central Italy and then the entire Italy. In April 2010 they make the first UK tour in London playing with bands like Cartavetro, Monkey Island, Adriano Lanzi and The Loverburns. In June 2011 they play for the first time at the famous Surfer Joe Summer Festival in Livorno, the biggest surf music festival of the world.
Instrumental, surf-ish duo from Sweden.
Surf Rock Band from Bandung City, Indonesia - South East Asia
Amsterdam (NL) based band. A band with latin-american rythm influences and not that much reverb you'll expect from a surfband. It's obvious they like the shadows and the ventures.
High energy surf music from France.
