You really would take that over the Daytonas?

When it comes to the guys from the east I just don't think you can beat Yuzo's instro stuff.

I was just having a bit of a grin. Wink

love the superstocks hotrods stuff as well "4 on the floor" "cheater slicks" and my favorite: that groovy little "street machine"

Thanks for all of the responses so far; the Hondells rule! I think your guys' suggestions will keep me busy for awhile! Very Happy

I've never really considered ANY song with vocals to qualify as "surf music".

Songs with vocals are "beach music". Two separate animals, though I'm sure many will disagree.

Ha, well, wikipedia calls it "surf pop," which I think is a good enough term.

If that's your reaction to the Fender IV's "You Better Tell Me Right Now" then I really don't know what to say.

In all fairness "You Better Tell Me Now" is hardly representative of "vocal surf"...incredible track, but pretty unique and ahead of its time.

Honestly I think You better tell me now is a surfinstro with words and pretty vocals in it. It has the typical minor chord with the seminote counterpoint in it. I tossed this thought to Randy Holden when I wrote him a few years ago (I put up the whole thing here. I think you can find it somewhere still). It's a typical garage vocal but with major edge.

Ad of course I'll use the opportunity (again) to mention that we covered it on our new album Scelerats Syndicate..haha Smile
