Could they could come over on vacation and then play? O maybe iff it was a hobby? I would assume that the problem might be going on a big tour? makes no sense to me.
;-/
My understanding is that that is not OK, although, of course, you might well get away with it.
Yes. that was my understanding also. Years ago I spent hours on Heathrow airport just because somebody thought that I'll stay in London forever and that experience itself was enough:) I've heard some stories about US immigration on airports and that was even worse. Somewhere between Monthy Python and North Korea:)

Really diggin' "Mindbender" at the moment. Classic Bambis sound with the dueling guitars. Love it!

Somewhere between Monty Python and North Korea might be an interesting place to visit. Although probably not to live.

On the other hand, many non-US bands have done short tours here over the years. I suspect they all did it under the radar with the possible exception of maybe Laika & TC:
Just off the top of my head from the past few years:
Surf Coasters (Japan) (twice)
Barbwires (Sweden)
Longboards (Spain)
The Whys (Japan)
The Kilaueas (Germany)
Laika & The Cosmonauts (Finland)

Definitely. My daughter had a friend who flew to Britain recently without troubling herself over this, assuming she would slip through on the strength of innocent intentions and obscurity. I think it involved playing amateur sports of some sort - a few exhibition matches. She definitely had no intention of staying long. She had a return ticket. She wasn't even sure she spoke the language. She never got out of the airport and basically came back by return mail.
Some years ago, long before current security procedures, I myself spent some rather scary moments being interviewed by Canadian imigration authorities (Eh!) because I told them I was coming in to present a paper at a conference on a university campus. I actually was and I had a return ticket for three days later, but as a student presenter I fit the profile of someone planning to linger and work and I had to convince them that I was what I claimed I was. I think the turning point was when I tried to show them my handout. I believe they concluded it was unlikely that anyone would hire someone as big an idiot as I seemed to be.
I think the thing to do here is to try to reform the system, not try to sidestep it. We may not get the Bambi Molesters, even if they promise to stay away from the national parks and forests, but it will pay off one way or another.
Of course, if they ever do come over, maybe a picture or two in front of the Walt Disney Studios can be arranged, and perhaps we can rustle them up some duck hunting stamps or something if not an actual hunting license. What with the way chronic wasting disease is cutting through the deer and elk herds in Colorado, I wouldn't care to hang out with the local Cervidae myself.
As far as that, while I can't swing Zagreb at the moment, I would certainly sleep on a bench in Fiorello LaGuardia to see them play, even if just on kazoos. (FLG is NYC's most frightful airport by a wide margin.)

Thanks Seriously, I hope we will do a small tour before we grow too old. At least we can try ...
But, flying over here has some advantages. Ivan can tell you more....

Just fly into Mexico. We can get you over the border.

I have every intention of deleting that post, after Ted sees it. I think he will remain unimpressed by my wit, although I did manage to find what might be the longest image on the internet at nearly 45000 pixels across which is 468 inches long.

oh yes, and for those of you who are interested we did 2 shows in Zagreb. One was sold out and the other one almost. 1400 people all together. Speaking of numbers, we drank 5 bottles of gin and at one moment there were 13 musicians on stage. There are some photos here

I don't think i've been so pleased for a band ever. I wonder what will be your next installment of surprise?
