I walked into a Walgreens (I think) here in Martinsburg a few months ago, looking for cassettes for a multitrack. As I'm at the register, it hits me that I'm hearing surf music in the background. The kid at the register is looking at me funny because I'm standing there with my head cocked trying to figure out what song it was, and why I'm hearing it in public! Can't remember what song it was now, but it was cool (and a little weird) hearing it in public. (and it wasn't one of the classics)

the ventures 'bongo rock' on the local forecast part of the weather channel. (i know, i know.....why would anyone watch the weather channel? when you live somewhere where the weather is an important part of your daily activities, you do watch it)

I've heard this in BevMo at well.

The best part was the cashier saying to his coworker, "what the hell is this?"
It cracked me up. Laughing

Science friction burns my fingers.

Yup, "Bongo Rock" in Chicago, too.

Surf music is hopefully not in any danger of extinction.

On the other hand, not many Tennis music albums or groups out there, and when's the last time you heard much golf music?

I heard Telstar in Walgreens. I also heard Penetration on the NBC late night Poker show. Very Happy

I watch the show "Bored To Death" on HBO, which is currently on its second season. Since the beginning I've noticed that the show's score has a reverby, spy-infused edge to it, but most of the songs that populate the show are more indie rock flavored. Well, in the episode "Escape From The Castle!", they showcased Tremolo Beer Gut's awesome song Chinese Spy. It fit beautifully, too!

a few years back i was channel surfing and came upon some surfing footage so i stopped and then recognized the tune was from the insect surfers. i think the show was called 'vegas'.

I know Surf Music, is the first thing I think of when watching shows about
Vegas, NOT!

don't tell the Swank Bastards I said that.

They had a sale on clown suits & bloodstain remover last week. I heard Michael Jackson over the intercom. Apparently he covered Gary Puckett & the Union Gap's "Young Girl" but changed it to "Young Boy."

I either heard surf music in Sex and the City 2, The Walking Dead, or Blue Moon Rising, I forget which one. I plan on re-watching Blue Moon Rising tonight as I just got the blu-ray, but DS9 might win out on my viewing attention.
