Permalink Fender Twin Reverb vs. Fender Delux Reverb??

Me neither! But easily remedied for a minimal cost.

I am with you on having "the look." Every time we set up to play out with the "basement built blondes" (and the real ones we have too), I get stoked. They look serious as hell, especially on a dark stage. Additionally a lot of people "hear with their eyes" anyway, and we get a lot of compliments about those things and the white guitars on stage. I have some black face piggy backs that seldom make it out to a show, but all lined up downstairs, side by side, with their pilot lights on, just makes my day. If having that visual magic is important, go for it.

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

I'd never given cosmetics that much thought. (Really like my 68 CVR's sound, they did the drip-edge very nicely too.) But with the tank from Dario sitting below it now for the first time I've given some thought to locating a BF front panel and getting a rough blonde/oxblood cabinet for it. Would be totally frivolous, but ya know... because.

What we would get instead, is the '68 Vibrolux RI, '68 Twin RI, '65 Super Reverb RI, and even the '59 Bandmaster
jake i won't argue thats a good list of amps i might get some of those.
whoever gets a blues deluxe make no mistake about it you will need a
reverb tank for surf for sure.

Still thinking about it, albeit w/o the BF panel (they're slightly dissimilar enough). But for a couple reasons an El Sonido I was chasing isn't going to happen. I only found one pic of something that had a SF control panel but someone did rough blonde/oxblood (a little Bassmaster head). Then thought of Jake, who has no compunction painting a guitar whatever he wants, so... Cool

Maybe it would work; could be done for not much dinero, it's just tolex & grill cloth. Realized when I saw this pic that my eye was drawn to the blonde/oxblood, not the finish on the control panel.

I've got a '65 Twin RI for sale. It's too heavy to lug around. I recently picked up a '66 Showman and that's easier to lug around....
Also for surf I need an enclosed cabinet. So the only 2x12 I'd consider would be a Bandmaster.

I always prefer a vintage amp when I can. I have a '65 RI Deluxe and that's a fantastic amp. It's hard finding a good deal on a vintage Deluxe so I'm ok with lugging the Deluxe RI to gigs. The thing with Twins is you can still get a decent deal on an old one so I don't see much use in going new. Add in my requirement for an enclosed cab for surf music and I really don't have much use for a Twin.
