I agree,

Me too, Jeff. There are a few live videos on Youtube: I guess that'll hafta do. Here's what Jeff Morris is up to now....

http://tattooedheartsbrokenpromises.blogspot.com/

Jeff moved to Chicago, and the rest of the Hitmen (and woman) are in New Hampshire, so the possibility of the Hitmen getting back together is not good.

Definitely not even close to them at their best, but then again I mostly picked it up for the cover art.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

If you
don't have their 3rd CD, "Two In the Hat", pick it up.
To my ears, it is their best.

I have the first two Hitmen CDs and they are great. There are also some decent videos on Youtube of them preforming.

I just got this great vinyl re-issue of The Rhythm Rocker's LP from '63. I've always been a RR's fan from hearing songs on various comps and reading about them. I've never found this original LP for a reasonable price. Thumbs up to Sundazed for putting it out! Pure Teen Surf Stomp!

The Rhythm Rockers were a highly influential band locally that also put on their own teen stomps and had a large local following starting in 1960. When Dick Dale left the Rendezvous in '61 the RR's became the house band. Their '63 release was recorded in '62 and is wall to wall rockin' surf instrumentals including a personal fave “Get it On” that's packed with teenage fury.

I bought "Sugar" by Nancy Sinatra for the exact same reason.

The Shockwave! - "Death Race"
This is one of those CDs that just doesn't want to get
ejected from the car stereo, I've been listening to it
over and over for a few weeks now. The Shockwave! are
from Helsinki, Finland, but have nothing to do with
rautalanka, they are huge fans of trad surf and mine
the Gary Usher / Richie Podolar vein. Everything is
nice and moist, Mosrite guitars driving the sound. The
songwriting is inventive, finding new riffs and
melodies inside the trad framework. Track 13, "The
Adventurer" is mesmerizing. My other favorite track is
the bonus one, "Mandchurian Space Reggae" which has a
dub style mix. The CD is about half originals, half
covers- with some interesting rearrangements like their
take on Syd Barret era Pink Floyd called "Lucifer Sam's
Surf". Another fave that seems to be popping up a lot
recently is "Force of Gravity." All in all, pretty
satisfying; I hope Sean picks it up for the Double
Crown Catalog, I think it's pretty damn good!

This is a great set of surfrock tunes from Finland.

Many fresh sounds and some really strong tracks.

El Supernaut

I've heard about this band and this CD - it features
the lead guitarist and original drummer from the
Lunatics, whom I love. I just checked out the
myspace
site (thanks for the link!) and the tracks sound
great!
A bit more surfy compared to the Lunatics, but you
can
definitely hear the connection between two two bands
.
Will definitely be picking this one up! (I had been
wondering whatever happened to the Lunatics - now I
know!)

I got this CD a few weeks ago, and I cannot
overemphasize how great it is! Sheer brilliance!! The
musicianship is just remarkable, the songwriting is
about as good as it gets, and the covers are right up
my alley. Can't get enough! Remember, you can hear
the first part of all the songs here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/el-supernaut/id416888978
The album is only $10.99 on iTunes - a LOT cheaper
than buying a CD from Europe, which is pretty expensive
everywhere I've looked (though TOTALLY worth it!!).

Just pre-ordered the Peter Jay & The Jaywalkers singles collection CD that will be out on Monday. I have a pretty big Joe Meek collection but only have about 1/3 of the included tracks with my favorite being "Totem Pole" I think.

Great song, Klas! I really like Joe Meek's stuff, especially the Outlaws stuff with Ritchie Blackmore. Thanks for posting this! I'll have to check it out.

Just listened to it. Very solid all the way through, "Secret Agent Man" excluded.
