Not sure I am breaking any state secrets yet, but I've seen hints of an organ player being added to the lineup of The Nebulas on their myspace... Wow I am excited to hear how that will sound!!!

My friend told me it was for a couple shows only. But I bet it will sound good.

When I read the title I thought another guitar like Satan's Pilgrims, but an organ is cool.

I traded some email with Dano. He's got a new job and is very busy, so it sounded like they wanted to pick up a sub for him. However the best they could do was find a guy who could play the organ. So they tried it out and Dano said it sounded great; he admitted they sounded like a different band though. I guess they are seeing where this will lead.

Well I say why not? They were so good at what they do, they kind of exhausted that sound. I think some growth and new direction is very healthy for the band.

I met Dan-O a few years ago when the Nebulas were in San Diego. He's a cool guy and I think he's a key part of their sound. I hope things work out well for everybody. Of course, I'd love to hear the Nebulas with the organ.

The organ is a horrible instrument and shouldn't be played by anyone.
Especially those damn Farfisa Compacts.
How I hate 'em.

Hi - just to clarify, the organ player is not a "substitute" for Dan for the upcoming shows this weekend - we've had the organ forever, just never had anyone to play it. With Dan's unpredictable work schedule, we still wanted the ability to play the occasional show and do so with at least 4 people. Ideally, we'll be playing future shows as a 5-piece, but if something comes up at the last minute, we can still do the gig with 4. I would also add that while it sounds different, the change is nice and adds another dimension to our sound & injects some variety into our existing material & may yield some new ideas going forward.

Cool Jim. Have you guys worked up some interesting covers with the organ? Have you added organ parts to some of your existing songs? Just curious how that all works.

You guys are very secretive.
Also I didn't mean to imply Dano was out. I did say "and then there were 5", and "and organ player added to the lineup". 4 + 1 = 5.

Well, actually, the pipe organ is a pretty cool instrument. I actually used
to play one. I actually used a sampled pipe organ sound on one of
my surf tunes. . . not sure what I think, though.
But I agree, the Farfisa is an abomination.
