The website (My Real Broadcast) that was hosting my 2 internet radio shows, TWANG SHEBANG and YourSpace Radio, is officially "no longer". You can "thank" the wonderful economy for the true reason. Sad day for me, as I will never forget the e/mail I got out of nowhere from a chap named DAN COLEMAN from Montreal Canada on September 10, 2004, asking me if I'd be interested in being a "reporter on the surf music scene" for his company. The "reporter segment" quickly evolved into a show that included music. For a while my "spoken part" was recorded by telephone, and the music inserted "in the studio". Eventually we upgraded, I purchased a microphone, taped my segments, and Dan Coleman would then "package" the show, "mix" it professionally, and we had a successfully show that had a strong following (measured in "hits", as everyone knows).
For a while I had a second show, "Elemental Instrumental", which was sort of aimed at kids -- we were "teaching them the surf alphabet from A to Z". Each show would have bands whose names started with a particular letter. I think we got up to "D", and then we stopped it at that point. It was Dan's idea to put this show on a Canadian website aimed at children. I really had a lot of fun doing that.
Then I came up with an all-genre show, though each show included surf (it just had to!!), called YourSpace Radio. It, too, became very popular very quickly.
I just wanted to give thanks to Dan Coleman for finding me in the first place, believing in me, and giving so much of his free time to me, to "us". And what's so amazing is that to this day, we have never met!
I am trying now to find another site that would be willing to carry these shows for me. And then I would start producing new ones as well. If anyone has any suggestions, please write to me (schizofredric@yahoo.com).
And I want to thank people who are reading this and who have tuned in, and paid me compliments, both privately and publicly.
I am also looking into starting a brand new surf music/instrumental music radio show, with a different name. Again, if anyone can recommend a website that you feel would be a good marriage with my 'style', by all means reach out to me?
I feel blessed to have had these shows b/c it allowed me to connect with bands and listeners from all over the world, including people like PETE BEST, THE SEARCHERS, and so so so many fantastic surf bands.
