Well, I have my PC back, and it has a couple of odd configuration issues. One is the name of the system is "Owner". So when I log into the chat room I'm logged in as, you get it, "Owner". Ugh! How do I change that? Thanks! —This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got. |

The terms used in Limechat differ from those disclosed here. They are: I don't see how they correspond with: So how do you configure? PolloGuitar wrote: — |

I have access to a Mac now, so if Ferenc doesn't chime in I'll make a short screencast of how to configure it. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

Also, I will look into encrypting the connection to the IRC server for your privacy and safety. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

The IRC server now supports encrypted connections. To take advantage of this, use port 6697 (instead of 6667). You may also have to change some settings on your client. For example, on XChat I had to tell it to always use SSL connections, and to accept invalid certificates. I will leave both encrypted and unencrypted options available since (unfortunately) going encrypted may be a little more difficult to get started with. If you have specific questions about this, please ask. I'll try to do a screen cast of setting up LimeChat in the near future also. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

How to connect with LimeChat on a Mac screen cast. Hmmm, so I thought this screen cast software I had saved videos as .mp4, but it seems to have changed and only supports flash (.swf) now. If there is demand, I'll try to convert the file to something else. Otherwise you should be able to view this flash movie in a web browser, assuming you still have flash installed: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15514715/SG101/LimeChat.swf The video shows me canceling the initial window that pops up when you run LimeChat for the first time. Then I add a server and connect to it. The server password, which you can't see me type, is morereverb. Hope that helps. —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea Last edited: Feb 08, 2016 21:44:02 |

YEs, thanks Brian, the video is very helpful. Why is it reading my input as "Unknown Command"? — |

I think you missed a subtle step. If you watch the movie again, after you connect to the server you see the message of the day and all that spewage about the security certificate, etc. Then I move the mouse down to the lower right and I click on the "#ShallowEnd" channel. That brings up the channel to chat in. That window you are looking at is just kind of a server command window. You do all your chatting in one of the channels (we only have 1 permanent one -- the #ShallowEnd). —Site dude - S3 Agent #202 "It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea |

The bot is a quiet one. But it can do more than sit in silence. You can prod it into some limited actions. Some of which would require administrative privileges, but many can be done by anyone (depending on how much Brian has restricted it, of course). https://wiki.tripsit.me/wiki/List_of_IRC_bot_commands Also, I'm also a Limechat user on mac. Its a good IRC client Last edited: Feb 09, 2016 10:38:47 |
