Very cool Ivan! I will be interested to hear what you think of the new album. Happy Iron Maiden Day!
Here's an interesting Invisible Oranges article that came out today regarding a comparison between the Clive Burr and Nicko McBrain eras

To quote Liquid Metal..."The Metal Gods have blessed us with a new Iron Maiden album!"
BTW, waaaaay too much Blaze on the all-Maiden feed on Sirius.
Still early in the Book Of Souls digestion, but so far...WOW!!!!
Classic Maiden all the way! Some definite goose bump moments already!

Every time I listen to The Book of Souls, I love it more! It's a LOT to take in, but so damn good! Quite possibly their best since the '80s.
It comes out just in time for a COLLEGE COURSE on Iron Maiden in which I'll be participating! I just returned from the first class. It's titled "The Good, The True, and Iron Maiden"! I teach at a conservative liberal arts college, but it turns out that there are a whole bunch of us professors 'of certain age' (as the journalism professor that organized the course said in today's opening class, 'it helps if you were a 14-year-old guy in 1984' and that's probably true!) who are to this day huge Maiden fans! So, the journalism prof put together this 1-credit Honors course, with lectures by all of us Maiden fan profs on our area areas of expertise (and a couple of profs that know nothing about Maiden but are experts on particular song subjects). For my lecture I'm also going to bring one of my metal Strats and my tiny Vox DA-5 amp, and analyze a few Maiden songs plus discuss some recurring themes in their music. I'm planning on not just lecturing that one time but also attending most of the lectures. It should be a blast!

I hope someone does a lecture on the Blaze Bailey years and what the heck that was all about.
Sounds really cool Ivan!

Some things are simply inexplicable, and not subject to academic analysis. But hey, for anybody dismayed by what Maiden was doing during that period, all you gotta do is listen to Bruce's solo albums "Accident of Birth" ('97) and "The Chemical Wedding" ('98), both featuring Adrian Smith and Roy Z on guitars, to see that the flame was most DEFINITELY being kept alive even during that dark period!

For the Maiden fans, this is pretty cool:
Iron Maiden Score Their Biggest U.S. Hit With 'The Book Of Souls'
09/14/2015
(hennemusic) Iron Maiden have landed a Top 5 debut on the US album charts with "The Book Of Souls" after the legendary metal band had their best U.S. sales week since Nielsen Music started tracking sales in 1991.
Billboard reports the project opens at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 with opening week sales of 75,000 copies. The showing equals Iron Maiden's best chart ranking ever - matching the No. 4 placement of 2010's "The Final Frontier."
In their native UK, the Official Charts Company reports the band's first-ever double studio project enters the UK albums chart at No. 1 with opening week sales of just over 60,000. "The Book Of Souls" also debuted at No. 1 on the Official Vinyl Albums Chart and the Official Record Store Chart.

I've been trying to buy a copy on Amazon ever since the recent high speed weekend, but it's been out of stock.

See, it's undeniable! Maiden truly does rule the world!
Is it really lame to be excited about the new "Edphones?"
