JONPAUL, Thanks for bumping this. It also drew my attention to something that has bothered me for quite some time. I have been thinking about Jake and wondering where he is, why he stopped posting here since last summer. Hopefully its not bad news.

Happy Sunsets!

I thought about him very recently, in the past week or two, as well, wondering the same...

Hey Guys, I'm doing well! I'm on Instagram if anybody else is, @verbageddon. I don't post much there either!

I have a dog! She's real cute. (See below)

Friends and Family are well since Covid started. I've been busy since, I'm maintaining the University of Washington's stockpile of PPE and Disinfecting supplies. It takes up my days, and I was even just dreaming about it...

I haven't played a lot of music recently. I've been playing a lot of lap steel(I'm still no good) and I've been playing a lot of big old hollow bodies.

How are you all?

JAKE
Thanks for checking in. Glad to hear all is well. That's a good looking dog. She looks like she never met a stranger. Since you're playing lap steel you might enjoy listening to Bobby Ingano. Good luck and stay safe.

Happy Sunsets!

I'll check it out!

She loves people. She doesn't like black garbage cans, or any large unmoving black object on the sidewalk. She's weird like that!

She's 110lbs! Doesn't play with toys, likes to box, LOVES little dogs. She is five and a half now, photo above was on her fifth birthday.

Glad you’re back, Jake! Good to see you posting again. (I was thinking about you a while back, as well.)

I have a lap steel, but I haven’t played it lately. I think that what it is, is that to go from an instrument at which you are reasonably proficient, to a complete beginner, is humbling. As you’re sitting there, pecking away at it, you’re taking baby steps, improving in small, almost unnoticeable increments. While that’s going on, you’re thinking about all that you could be accomplishing if you were playing guitar. (Or in my case, Guitar or Bass.)

Years ago, I was in a Surf Music/ Oldies band, and our rhythm guitarist also played pedal steel. (He also played in a Country Western band, and was well skilled.) When we played “Sleepwalk” it sounded really good.

What tuning do you use, C6?

Anyway, good to hear from you, and we’re glad to know that you’re well. Please don’t be a stranger.

-Cheers, Clark-

-Less Paul, more Reverb-

I can't even decide on a tuning! I have two lapsteels, one in C6 and the other in open D. Sometimes open G. But most of the times I'll modify a tuning to fit something I'm working on.

Great to see you're doing well, Jake! You're definitely missed around here! It doesn't sound like surf music is very high on your list of priorities anymore, though.... Big Grin
