so yesterday Wooza and me hung out and jammed for a little while with my bandmates, and i told him about this bassman head they were selling at a local music store a while back. so we go there to check it out and it turned out to be a Super Bassman head, now i did some research and i think its a 69' Super Bassman . well i was just wondering what this thing sounded like compared to a blackface bassman. it said one owner but it looked like it had more than 10 owners haha pretty expensive place too.

I think they are simply 100 watt bassmans with a funky name. great amps for bass, but "true" bassamps, they sound very dull for guitar.

Exactly. These amps are great bass amps. My bassist uses one for both MBP and TomorrowMen. Guitarists stay away.

Note, there is a difference between the "Super Bassman" and the later Bassman 100/135. The Super Bassman came in a taller head cabinet similar to that used for the Dual Showman Reverb and Bandmaster Reverb heads. Electronically, I think it's essentially the same as the later Bassman 100. Treyf uses a Bassman 100 in MBP and the T-men.

The one we were looking at was bigger. Pretty beefy looking.

Well now that we've ruled that thing out I guess we can buy the electric sitar we were looking at.

Yeah, bassists really like the bassman 100/135, so most of the market is for them.

FUCK YEAH that electric sitar was cooool and just $385!!! mann if only i had that thing... haha but yeah that thing does look like it should be used for bass only. maybe we'll have better luck next time. i was telling wooza about this bay area guitar showroom in san rafael next month. theres bound to be lots of cool amps and rare guitars there, i went there a year ago and mann, mosrites, jaguars, and jazzmasters everywhere!!!! maybe i can save up for a good amp by then!!!
