The Galaxie IVs are fine guitars. However, I would stay away from the ones that have the colored lacquer on the back of the necks. If you notice, the sunburst and Los Straitjacket models have a clear, satin coat on the back of the neck. This makes a huge difference in the feel and playability of those guitars. If you can get a Galaxie IV in one of those two colors, I think you'll really enjoy fooling around with it. They sound great and the hardware is every bit the equal of a CIJ Jag or Jazzmaster. |

Like anything...some folks wax eloquant on the beauty and sound of MIJ/CIJ Fenders and some folks would rather get "rid of 'em as fast as" they can. If someone likes MIJ/CIJ Fenders, then I think they'll find that the Galaxie IVs with the satin finish on the back of the neck are every bit their equal. Meanwhile, if they don't like them, they should definately stay away because they are not mod-able. |

Maybe they did'nt want to get their "good" guitars out in the salty sea air. (wow......cant believe I just said that) —2012-2013: FILTHY POLAROIDS |

Eddie Angel privately admitted to Tone Boy and me that he actually liked his AVRI '57 Strat better, but since LSJ were/are DiPinto endorsers, he couldn't say that out loud... —Jack Booth The Mariners (1964-68, 1996-2005) |

I still think that LSJ sounded better with the Fender guitars........sorry, ed —Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps? |

this happens everytime i play with someone elses' stuff. so much of what comes out of ones hands influences tone, volume, etc. — |

I only keep the crayons if I like the color......... |

Most people do the same thing in guitar playing......... I dont use many aug flat 7ths or dim 9ths.......use alot of A and E minors , B flat 7ths , G 7ths and minors. Of course some players start experimenting with melting different color crayons together and coming up with their own colorful chords. I tell ya the coloring book analogy fits guitar playing. —2012-2013: FILTHY POLAROIDS |

Does anybody know which guitars LSJ uses for recording? |

Id guess at the Fender's, except the one's that mention DiPinto guitars. I may be wrong. Courier fury. Here in England, if youve got ANYTHING AT ALL being delivered by courier, you can totally FORGET next day delivery. It happens to me every single time i buy anything. |

Oh man I wish I saw this earlier. I'm wanting to sell my DiPinto Galaxie 4 (in the UK). It just doesn't get enough attention compared to my Mosrite! Where's a time machine where you need one? Oh well, eBay will suffice.... |

I've watched the Straitjackets play their DiPinto guitars up close and have noticed that they have to tune them more than they ever did with their Fender gear. I don't know if the DiPinto's have an inherent problem holding tune but I do know that Eddie Angel has told me that he prefers his Strat. —Ron (ToneBoy) |

Its gonna have to be a lot of guitar for me to enjoy it more than my Burns or my Fenders, but it looks ace, which is why im getting it. I find a lot of the argument for 'against' on here is players comparing them to Jag's and other Fenders, which i dont expect it to compare to, but ive got my Fenders! Thanks guys anyway for the feedback, good or bad, it all helped Now...all i have to do is get through tonight, then i can sit by the window all day tomorrow (again) for the courier not to turn up. Hopefully he'll wave as he goes past. Should i join a Blues band instead? |
