Okay, so didn't your "source" know about this? Maybe a wait and see approach until solid facts are presented by the new group. Dude, Either tell us who the source is, or stopped busting on me. I'm not going to waste countless hours on a band that stopped being the same band many years ago. You say the sky is falling for the Ventures, RIP, you mean for the Ventures live, the Ventures band is long gone. If they can't be "The Ventures", I wonder if they can be "Not The Ventures"? Can't say it's false advertising as it's says in the name they're not the Ventures. Maybe they could be stopped for using the Ventures name to their benefit, but still it would be awesome. Also, if anyone is interested, I'm thinking of starting a band called "Not The Beatles"... |

Art - my source, again, is quite reliable. Too much effort apparently involved for you in thinking what that most reliable source would be. If you did give it some thought, it would not be "strike one" in your book. It shouldn't take "> countless hours" either - not if you can think. When J. Mascis and company wanted to use the name Dinosaur, they were sued by the Bay Area band Dinosaurs - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinosaur_Jr.#Name_change - so they used Dinosaur Jr. So, maybe Not The Ventures would work - I mean, Venturesmania seems to have gone unscathed. Not The Beatles? Not clear to me, but there is Beatlemania. But perhaps they pay a licensing fee. I honestly don't know. I do know that I've seen them quite a large number of times, and they have always been excellent. I already miss the Ventures. One of, if not the, first major rock and roll shows I saw was the Ventures at the Surf Ballroom at Nantasket Beach in Hull MA, south of Boston. Mid-60s, I was real young, I only saw them from a distance near the front door, they 'sort of' let me in. I was just at the beach and Paragoon Park with my family. Made a major impression on me though. When the blues guitar bug hit me hard several years later, I still played Ventures and surf songs, which seemed incongruous to some of the blues guys I hung around with.
