My college band played at a Christmas party for Compaq Computer Engineers. Though that doesn't beat when I saw the Bangles play for the opening of a new freeway in Houston. |

At the top of a parking garage. It turned out to be a great gig during the pandemic! And at a skating rink at -10 Celsius. Canadian Surf http://www.urbansurfkings.com/ Last edited: Jul 17, 2022 11:36:04 |

This was in my pre-surf time: We always went to Croatia for long summer hollidays. And we stayed at a nudist camp mostly. When I got into punkrock when I was 16, I met made some new friends that where playing in punkbands too during that summer. So we decided to do a gig one afternoon at the beach. The backline was provided by the dance band of the local beach disco. It was one of the first and only times I played on a strat with tremolo and no there was no cover on the gap where the springs are. Ouch, that's where pubic hair gets tangled. People thought we were doing Led Zeppelin covers because my voice pitch was so high Most painfull gig ever, and it was only 5 songs long! —www.alohasluts.com Last edited: Jul 18, 2022 07:56:44 |

We played once as a houseband in our towns ice hockey arena. It was fun experience. I remember one fashion show too . —Twang & Bop til You Drop! |

In the Empire State Building, in a music studio belonging to radio station WABC, in Summer 1967. We met well-known disc jockey Bruce Morrow ("Cousin Brucie") https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_Morrow, who hosted our one-song recording session--and still works at WABC as a D.J. They played the recording back for us while we were there--it sounded totally professional, far better than we sounded to ourselves. This was part of a rock-n-roll recording contest. To get a spot in this competition all we did was volunteer. The entire experience was overshadowed by our drive to the Empire State Building in Manhattan from the Sheepshead Bay area in South Brooklyn. Twe blocks into the voyage the windshield wipers on my dad's old Ford station wagon died, with the rain pouring down hard and continuously. I steered the car based on looking through the water streams on the windshield, sticking my head out the window, and receiving reports from band member Don, who sat by the front passenger window. Our desire for the adventure overcame the irrationality of driving through New York City nearly blind. It did not feel as risky as my climbing ladders on the roofs of Manhattan skyscrapers to service air conditioning units for a Summer job 2 years prior. Fortunately, the rain quit while we were performing and the trip back was uneventful. —Insanitizers! http://www.insanitizers.com Last edited: Jul 18, 2022 21:14:24 |
