Thursday's video is a surfy cover of the Beatles' "She Loves You". (Inspired by The Surfrajettes' version - thank you ladies).

totally enjoying your sounds....keep 'em comin'

Our last video for a while. Not exactly "surf music" - but an instrumental nonetheless. This is our cover of Led Zeppelin's "The Immigrant Song".
No distortion was used in the guitar mix.

A video I recorded in 2018.
The Razorblades' "Fasten Seatbelts".

Our newest cover is Slacktone's "Bells Of St. Kahuna". This wasn't an easy one, folks. It's definitely a workout! Uh-Oh

(Youtube video looks best in 1080p60 - full screen).

Hi, Gellert.

A fun sound and superb lead guitar technique on Evan Foster's piece.

Do you use "Rotor" or a similar company to help make videos?

Hey Conrad,

It was my intention to make the "Surfer's Anthem" video on my own - like I have on several within my YouTube channel. However, I just bought a new PC and haven't installed "Filmora" onto it, which is a great video program I use for video making. I contacted a video person off of Fivrr.com and had him make it for me with the specs that I wanted for a fairly cheap price. So everything you see on the video is royalty-free video content that anyone can purchase to make their own "custom" movie. It is what it is LOL. After several revisions, I basically had to say, OK this will have to do. Most of the computer specialists on Fivrr are overseas and NOT very good at English or understanding American culture so I am glad that the video came out as well as it did, considering he was from India.

I have never heard of Rotor, but, you have me interested in it so I will check that out. I do like making my own videos, but it does take me hours and hours to get exactly perfect. Unfortunately, I am super anal when placing anything online that is attached to my name or band Smile

Yea, sorry about that. I guess that depends on WHERE you work Smile
I hope you didn't get into too much trouble with your "Human Resources Manager" in Oslo Smile

Hi, Gellert,
Thanks for the interesting detail about Fiverr.com (Fivrr.com is unsafe).

Rotor seems to automatically perform the video production you did manually, and do it inexpensively. I spent time on their website last week but did not actually subscribe. I look forward to hearing your impressions of Rotor. If you subscribe i'd like to hear of your experiences and see your results.

Awesome! Really liking the guitar tones here. Whats your setup like?

Hey there! It's funny you ask because I was just on your Bandcamp page yesterday and really enjoy your songs a lot ... especially Napalm Nug! I love that type of surf - very much like speed metal!

My set up is extremely simple and it's purely for recording and practicing songs through a PA. I am using a Fender Jazzmaster's bridge pickup for the main tone on Flight of the Surf Guitar. There is also a simple rhythm track that I added (not on the original Atlantics recording) where I used both pickups to get a fatter tone. It's hard to hear but that's how I wanted it...just barely audible to fill in the sonic space.

Aside from the guitar, I am using just one pedal which gives the guitar all its sound. It's a Zoom MS-50G MultiStomp Multi-effects Pedal! I have five effects going through a chain and it took me while to get the right combination to sound surfy enough. Guitar -- noise gate -- compressor --reverb -- Fender twin amp sim -- delay. That's it. The great thing about that pedal is that it is in stereo. My delay effect "ping pongs" back and forth, from left to right giving it a wide effect. I own an original Surfybear reverb and a Hot Rod Deluxe 2x12 that don't get used much.

If anyone owns that Boss pedal, I can share my settings and get you in the right direction for getting the same sound I do. There's a 6 year old thread on here that goes into detail about it.

Hi Gellert! What is the recording tool you use and drum machine? I remember we discussed it last year on our surf call but…

I use Reaper for recording and layering the guitar tracks while the drum track was an actual drummer I paid to learn the song and record it in his studio. I haven't used a drum machine or any drum programs in my recordings.

Sounds great! Reaper is a program, right?
