Get a five day bus pass rather than pay per journey. The busses are frequent and easy, and cheap. The bus pass lets you get on and off as many times as you like which is ideal for hopping down the coast for a swim. Or hire a bike.
You can buy the bus tickets at a tobacconists.

However for those who like to walk (like me) Livorno is pretty small so you may just walk everywhere)
I used bus only on arrival and departure and had hours of greats walks through Livorno

I am limited in how much I can walk so I am still wondering about taxis or Lyft. Has anyone here ever been able to get a taxi at a late hour like 2am from the Surfer Joe festival?

We could try this with a few volunteers going in the same direction

Airline tix bought,wooooo!
papers for passport renewal sent with expedited service.
Getting to Pisa on wed June 18, and leaving on Tuesday June 26.
So if anybody wants to do any site seeing of Livorno or Pisa.
I haven't seen Pisa at all, and only a little of Livorno in the past 2 trips.

We've gone the last 6 years and have learned quite a bit about Livorno in the process. Would be happy to answer any questions, however specific they may seem. Ask on here or if you're more comfortable, please PM or just send a message direct through email.
Just a few things:
1. AIRPORT TO SURFER JOE DINER: It is quite convenient to get to Livorno (Surfer Joe Diner) directly from Pisa airport in approx. 1 hour on the cheap. First, take the People Mover from the airport to Pisa Centrale train station. From there, catch the train coming from Florence to Livorno Centrale Station. Right outside Livorno Centrale station, you'll find a bus stand A, where you catch the Lam Blu heading toward Miramare. Easy peasy! Save yourself the 50 Euro cab ride and spend that on band merch!
2. PIZZA Really, probably the most important thing! For some really good, inexpensive, working class, local style pizza very close to the diner, head to Rosso Pomi D'Oro Di Sarti Cinzia at Piazza G.E. Modigliani 6. Important to keep in mind typical Italian hours (12:30-2:30, 5:30-9:30). To get there from the diner, turn right onto the main street (Viale Italia). Walk passed the gazebo and the Grand Hotel Palazzo. You'll see a piazza on the left with a fountain in the middle. The pizza is about midway down the next street on the left.
3. GELATO Another extremely important thing to know! A good, inexpensive shop very close to the diner is Gelateria Popolare 2 (Via Carlo Meyer 11). Open 8-8, closed Mondays. From the diner, turn left on the main drag (Viale Italia) and at the beginning of the very next cross street (Via Carlo Meyer) to the right, you'll find the gelato!
4. PHARMACY Another important one that everyone needs at some point. Super close to the diner is Farmacia San Jacopo Sas (Viale Italia 123) 8:30-1, 3:30-8 except Sat 9-1. Just a couple shops passed the gelato shop to the left.
5. SANDWICH SHOP For a nearby alternative to pizza, try an amazing fresh, made to order, custom, real Italian submarine sandwich at Il Prosciuttaio (Viale Italia 135) 9AM-11PM everyday. From the diner, head to the main drag (Viale Italia), cross the street and make a left and it's right there!
6. BICYCLE RENTAL This is an inexpensive way to get around, have a nice look at Livorno and be assured you don't have to walk too far home at 4AM (it is not easy or even possible to catch a taxi passed a certain hour)! (details to follow)
7. SUPERMARKET SHOPPING A great way to save money and get more of a taste of the how the locals really eat. If your hotel or Air BnB has a fridge or some kind of kitchen area, why not stock up at the local supermarket? It's really nice to have the fixins for your own coffee and breakfast and snacks in the room! Of course, this is to be balanced with supporting and getting food directly from the Surfer Joe Diner, which is excellent! The closest one is Conad City (Via della Pieve) 8AM-9PM everyday but Sunday, when they close from 2-4:30PM. This is just a little SouthEast from the diner, towards the direction of Rosso Pomi D'Oro Pizza. Head right on Viale Italia, turn left on Via Maggiore Luigi Corti, right on Via dell' Eremo, left on Via della Cisterna, right on Via della Pieve and it's just a couple doors down.

Pisa is pretty nice! Besides the tower and other stuff it’s got beautiful central part with tiny streets, passages and squares)

We'll be renting a vehicle for the band to get around in, but if I was on my own, I'd rent one of these...
