I was watching 'The Gilmore Girls' the other day and they brought up a good point about how whenever someone is in a weird situation they invariably say, "thats so twilight zone" yet 'the outer limits' was just as popular and weird and from the same era as TZ but you never hear someone say, "thats so outer limits"...why not?

I think Twilight Zone was much more popular than Outer Limits, or at least it left a larger impression on pop culture. It was before The Outer Limits.

The Outer Limits actually scared me more as a kid. The one with guest David McCallum's (of Man from U.N.C.L.E. fame) forehead getting bigger and more grotesque as he kept gaining knowledge in a wierd experiment gone haywire. Then there was "The "Zanti Misfits" with those wierd little alien ant creatures with human like faces crawling all around. Ground breaking (for the time) special effects for a tv show.

Anyway, as for the Twilight Zone, that "Life is Good" episode with little Billy Mumy able to do whatever he thought, and reading people's minds and holding that little town in terror for what he'd do next always creeped me out. I like the way it started with Rod Serling narrating something like: "I'm going to introduce you to a monster" as the camera pans to an innocent looking little boy playing.

Serling was so great and distinctive as a host and personality, I almost forget sometimes that his thing was really writing. They could have cast a million people and not found anyone better.

What's that episode called where the guy loves to read and then his glasses break at the end and he can't see to do so?

I realize that that could have been typed better. Forgive me.

This one is 'Time Enough At Last'. Classic Twilight Zone.

I love the spoof of that episode on Futurama. Hilarious.

That was awesome! Laughing Thanks!

Science friction burns my fingers.

What about 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents'? Thats my fav of them all. I love his sense of humor where he would usually make fun of the sponsors right before the commercial.

Great stories too, gotta love the macabre.

Yes! He was so droll.

Does anyone remember the Night Gallery episode where the earwig crawls into the guy's ear and when it finally (painfully) comes out the other side the doctor tell the guy it laid eggs in there! AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I missed the last marathon apperently and I haven't seen it on TV for a while, but I used to watch it all the time. I like the Gremlin episode best I think.

And IronMaiden, 'sodes? 'Sodes?!

Yeah man, I saw one ive never seen too. The one where these people are stranded on a planet for like 30 years and when they get rescued the leader of the planet is like a cult leader that doesnt want any of his 'children' to split up back on earth. So they end up leaving him behind and hes all crazy talking to himself at the end. I swear I saw Ron Reagan for a sec in the crowd in one scene too.

I like the show too. I think the Twilight Zone, The Munsters and The Addams are my three favorite old T.V. shows.

This one is 'Time Enough At Last'. Classic Twilight Zone. The TomorrowMen actually have a song named after this episode.

That's right, and my old band - The Sardonics - had a song named after my favorite episode 'Next Stop Willoughby'. That was the one where the stressed out NYC ad man fell asleep on the train every night home and woke up in 1899. One needs to be a bit of a romantic anachronist to enjoy that episode, but hey we're playing music from 45 years ago so we qualify.

I saw that one too ! It's definitely one of my favorites. Very Happy

I only remembered one episode of The Twilight Zone ... the one where the guy sees a creature on the wings of the plane. So when I saw the Futurama spoof, it freaked me out 'cause it opens with the scene of the guy on the plane.

Coincidence?

I liked the one where they brought a guy to Mars, gave him a nice house and everything, yet he was actually on display, like a zoo creature, for all the Martians to gawk at.
