I never got to meet Gil or hear him play live, but I did greatly enjoy the Duotones's two CDs, and I read from many people what a wonderful man he was. My deep condolences to Paul, Gil's family, and all who were close to him inside of our surf music family. Another huge loss. —Ivan |

Ivan, I have seen Gil with the Chantays many times and duo tones as well, but what surprised me more than that was seeing him play that Jazzmaster with a swing music big band. My friend, Don Goldberg, has a band called the Silver Foxes that played around Orange County and especially Leisure World. Don invited me to a few shows and there was Gil, reading his big band charts with that infectious smile on his face! —Craig Skelly Little Kahuna |
