Maybe. If all those who have played it live said it bores the hell out of an audience or sends them running and screaming towards the exits then it's not like there isn't any other songs to play.

Point made.

I can't believe you guys are talking about "Wicked Game" I'm working on learning it right now

SPSKINS and SKEETERas an ex Memphian and an ex resident of Woodbridge, VaI cut my playing and performing teeth on Heart Full Of Soul by the Yardbirds and other Yardbirds material back in the middle sixties. That version is the wrost rendition of the song I have ever heard. Nothing against ya'll's opinions!!! I'm a lot older than ya'll and have never heard it played so poorly. Just my humble opinion guys.....My ear's are burning already..

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

I used to go the the Mabuhay and On Broadway with high school friends around 1981 and once saw Silvertone, which was Isaac's band featuring a young Jimmy Wilsea. I was mesmerized by his tone and the vibe he created with that Strat, maybe a Twin and probably an Echoplex. He made feedback sound retro neo-modernist. Silvertone was the 1st band I saw with Tiki Moas on stage. That Isaac guy was OK too.

We once jammed on Wicked Game for 15-20 minutes. Somebody's Crying is the one we recorded and played live though.

During the very early 2000's, my cover band did an "unplugged" sidewalk acoustic show for the local business association summer festival. We spotted Isaak and Jed Rees (supporting actor on the Chris Isaak Show that was shooting here in town) across the street. Our jukebox of a lead singer seizes the opportunity to pay tribute by breaking into "Somebody's Cryin'". Isaak pauses, walks back to the stop light, waits for the light, walks over to a now-freed-up microphone and proceeds to finish off the song singing harmony vocals with our lead singer. Shakes hands, a modest smile and wave, continues down the street unbothered by the locals.
Very cool.

Dude, that is rad! I loved that show, shame it isn't available anywhere.

It was just one of those spontaneous, unplanned, fleeting moments that just happened. The fact that he just sort of "breezed by", sang (his own song) to support our lead singer, and moved along just added to the cool factor. No autograph-seeking, no glad-handing, no celebrity-ness. That is my cool story for the day. Don't have many more of those...

Chris Isaak is playing the Birchmere here in the DC/NOVA area soon. I wouldn't mind going to see him, but the tickets are $95. I can't justify that cost. He's playing two nights so he must be getting it. More power to him I guess...

i saw him a few years back in portsmouth, va. he was quite good. i wonder if james wilsey is touring with the band or if he was just a session musician in the past.

Carol, Jimmy Wilsey was Isaak's guitarist from the early '80s until '95. Since then Hershel Yatovitz - another incredible guitarist, a true monster - has been Isaak's guitarist. While Wilsey had that Hank/surf thing going on, Hershel is a much more diverse guitarist - though he can definitely pull off the Wilsey sound really well when necessary, too. I really like his playing.

I saw Chris Isaak a couple of years a go with Hershel on guitar. I decided to go last minute, and it was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. The band was on fire.

My wife and I have seen Isaak some 2-3 times over the past 10 years, and each time he and his band were simply AMAZING. Some of the most entertaining shows we'd ever seen, too, Isaak is one FUNNY dude! I actually still have all episodes of Showtime's The Chris Isaak Show on VHS tapes! We'll pull them out and watch them every few years. Damn shame that's never been released on DVD. Isaak is the absolute tops as far as I'm concerned, the guy can't do wrong. He's never released a bad album, they're ALL phenomenal, his band is amazing, he puts on one of the best shows around, and is funny as hell. Long live Isaak!

I'm very happy to have seen him on stage at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Fransisco 2014.
Great band and performance!

Look at all those JBLs! Shock

Just so happens that there's an interview with Chris Isaac in this month's Guitarist mag (with a Zemaitis on the cover)...

We played it live with the Curl Riders and the audience loved it.
