Is this all in Anaheim or the area? This coupled with your other post with bands at the Mexican bar /restaurant makes it look like the first week in August would be the best time to fly out from the Midwest.

The Surfing Museum is in Huntington Beach Ca. about 13 miles south of Anaheim( where I live) takes me about 1/2 hour to get to the Surf Museum.
Baja Cantina is near LAX, that takes me about an Hour or Hour and a 1/2
to get to. Not fun in traffic Jam time. But 3 sets of a band for free is worth the headache of the drive.

Jeff, where did you take this misspelled text from?
Ran I copied and pasted from a e-mail I got from Linda,
it was probably a easy mistake since you live in (San) Diego.
Too bad you don't live in Sand Diego....
I fixed the post, and I also Added that the Longboards from Spain are going to be playing with the Pyronauts.

Assuming getting there very early, where is the best parking for HB near the pier? Is there an "all day" kind of pay lot or something similar or any unmetered street parking?

The best free parking is in the neighborhood east of the beach. All along the beach is metered ($.25 for freakin' 10 minutes!). The lots fill up soon and are $10. I always bring a skateboard and kick it from about six blocks in from the beach on 9th Street.
Hope that helps.

There is an all day lot right next to the pier venue & stage. Enter at 6th & PCH. If you get there before 11 AM, you should be able to get a spot. Its about $10 to park all day. There is another lot at First & PCH on the other side of the pier. $10 all day.
There is the city parking structure at Walnut & Main, one block above PCH & one block from the pier. $9 all day. If you grab a bite after the show at one of the places on Main Street, they will validate at least part of your parking.
There is another parking structure on Olive between Main & 5th across from the Surfing Museum. $10 all day.
Or, you can park on any of the numbered streets downtown for free, if you can find a parking spot. You will likely have to walk a bit if you find a spot.
There is a snack bar with decent food & drinks right by the stage. Bring sun tan lotion & drink plenty of fluids. The air temp is usually mild but with the sand & water, you will get fried in a hurry even if it is overcast, as some guys from Colorado found out recently.

I used to just park in the neighborhood about 4 to 6 blocks in and walk, it will only take you 5 min.

Grettings from the Beach! I just uploaded new photos from the Huntington
Beach Pier concert last Sunday. You can find them at:
http://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g7/photog4surfbands/HUNTINGTON%20BEACH%20PIER%206-3-07/
The day started an a very cool overcast day but cleared up to be a great
sunny day with enough breeze to keep things pleasant. Deep Sea started
the event with some of the tunes off their new CD, BROKEN ARROW. This
band continues to improve with each event they play. BUY THE CD--IT'S
GREAT! Boardwalkers were up next with some of their best tunes. The
Detonators really detonated with a great show of tunes from the past and
from today. They really pleased the crowd. The Sand Devils travelled
all the way from San Diego to put on a powerful set of some of their best
tunes. Abdel Khineche brought calm to the crowd by giving us a solo set
of some the the most familiar Shadows tunes.
Capping off the day, the Surf Kings seemed to play a short set
except that they used up all of their time and then some. Time flies when
you're having fun!!!!!!!!! The crowd started off fairyl slim but grew as the
afternoon became sunny and warm. If you missed this show, you missed
a good one. Thanks, Linda!!!
