Permalink NGD - Alamo Eldorado

Every few years I get to visit my friend and his cool guitar store in Victoria, BC and every visit (3 so far in ten years) I find a cool guitar that moves me, sonically and stylistically, i.e.: Funky and weird and sometimes rare.
This visit I was lucky enough to score this cool '65 ish Alamo Eldorado.
Body and neck made by Harmony and out of Honduras mahogany. Very light resonant and microphonic.
I haven't bought a guitar in a while but this thing is just a blast.
Good times!

Cheers,
Jeff

Cool Jeff, congrats!
Wonder what the glyph is in the center of the pickguard...
maybe it translates to "funky" Big Grin

Love the model name Alamo Eldorado is it an American guitar?
And Honduras Mahogany, that's a true Mahogany species right?
So it's quite a heavy guitar I'd guess.

Looks cool to me!! If it sounds as cool as it looks---that's even better!!
Enjoy!! Thumbs Up

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

Thanks for the comments.
Used it for a rehearsal yesterday and it sounded really good, unique but not strange.
Wes, the cutout in the pick guard is a very stylized A for Alamo that's barely apparent when the guitar is vertical
crumble, Honduras mahogany is a true mahogany and can vary dramatically in weight. In general it was the choice of companies like Gibson in the 50's and 60's. This one is very light weight and is very loud acoustically.

Jeff

Nice score Jeff! I've always hoped I'd stumble across a nice Alamo someday. My main amp used to be an Alamo Futura Reverb before it literally burned up.
Yes, crumble, they were an American brand made in San Antonio (naturally). Here's some info and history if you're interested - Alamo Guitars-Remember the Alamo
Congrats again!!

Oh yeah, thanks for answering the other part of crumble's question Bill!

Yes, on a cross country tour of Canada.
Sadly, no Surf.

I was just looking at that R2D2 lookin' thing on the right side near the gent who got mostly cut out.

Have a blast Jeff. Do you take your favorite Princeton or is it a backline kinda thing?

Oh man... That is rad. I could have been up there hanging out... Work was wretched today... Things went really awry, and I get to fix those thing...

Wes,
Ah yes, now I see. The moving light on the floor - disco and R2D2 for sure!

I have no amps on this run, playing direct.

But when I get back home and play my Princeton..
I will smile

Cheers,
Jeff
