Hey, let's not forgt the Aquasonics! Very trad - they'll be in town this weekend too and I'm looking forward to that. They are Denver's version of Outerwave.
Looking forward to that, been thinking about it all month long, we even had to do a "practice" session last Sunday instead of going to church to prepare for this gig. A kick ass new cover song will be played plus the usual Fender IV stuff and the rest. Can't wait, all great bands, Neptunes, GTS and Aquasonics at the Doll Hut.

please define this.." trad nazi "
You know, narrow but tall mustache, blue eyes, black hair slicked against scalp, slightly effeminate body language, totalitarian ideals...

The effeminate is just the lead guitarist. The bassist is the huge nazi who can kick anyones ass.

Dario,
A serious reply to your question -- trad. nazis are those who feel that surf should never evolve past 1965, and that people are just plain wrong unless they play all era-correct gear and have a sound that captures that of the early-to-mid 60s.

not 100 % accepted term by everybody.
But Trad Nazi = someone who only likes Trad surf.
hates anything progressive, i.e. Mermen, Insect Surfers,Pollo Del Mar etc..
and probably isnt crazy about bands like Laika and the Cosmonauts, or
Halibuts, or Tiki Tones even though they are retro souinding, they are not 100% Trad. because of the other elements they mix in with the Trad.
I understand why some people love Trad.
But I can dig it and progressive equally.

If somebody doesn't like the band you are in then that person is a trad nazi. It isn't because the bad music, it is because that person is close minded.

I was always under the impression that the term was used for someone that prefers the pre '64 sound, particularly '61 to '63.

I see and hear this "dig" often and I really have yet to ask what the term means until now.
It's kind of bizarre. If it is a very defined era of music, style, etc. that this person wishes to be a clique to then I say "enjoy."
I kind of find it offensive and insulting to call them a "nazi" because of what that "really" means and they have a certain kind of music they enjoy and pretty much nothing else. By that definition, we're all "nazi's" and me no likey that moniker.
Personally, I love instrumental music -just not ALL bands. That's ok. It doesn't say anything about their professionalism, artistry talents, etc. it just says I prefer chocolate over vanilla. I think branding people does little to further surf/instro/whatever's dovetailing into the mainstream by excluding people right off the bat because of cliquish comments. It seems very junior high.
I think acceptance of people and their differences is what can make surf/instro bigger and the potential to be a mainstream drive like it used to be (before the Beatles)... having broad appeal by its depth.

So did I--Jake's (probably) just kidding.

I think the "nazi" part refers to those who are not open to other styles, ONLY that era will do.

Trad nazis.
i like playing a gretsch. i think it sounds great, i didn't have it for the album, but i love it. other than that we're pretty trad, at least instruimentation wise.,uh oh, i do play a 57 reissue strat, not a 62. it doesn't matter that much of the hardware is the same, that maple neck i think is killing us.
seriously though, i guess a lot of my song writing isn't necessarily trad. i don't know.

I don't think we are very trad. We are more Penetrators and Space Cossacks with a touch of the Bambi Molesters.
Instruments are the same songwriting is different. If all of our songs were Scarlett or Caveat Auditor(sans Mike's and Your parts) then we would be pretty trad.
