Had such a fun time yesterday. Sadly wasn't able to stay for the whole event. Had to leave halfway thru The Eliminators set due to another engagement to attend. So who ended up winning the guitar raffles?

Danny Snyder won the stratocaster.

Oh, man - that's sick. I would've had to be late for sure.

What a good time I had yesterday. Very kind people in that building. :)Thanks everyone for making it such a fun day.

Here's some memories from the 2015 SG101Con... I didn't take a lot of pics, better to have musical memories.

We took this pic on Friday, but about 5 minutes before we TomorrowMen arrived at the Elk's Lodge on Saturday, I sent it to Jeff via text, hoping to give him a little rise, keep him on his toes! I hope he enjoyed the prank.

The Jesters tribute... boy they moved a lot of air, it's so hard to believe they had one practice. Just close your eyes and imagine teenage Jim Messina had showed up! Ivan's tribute band is an annual treat.

Weirdest thing happened to me as the Phonics started to play, it was like some mesmerizing voodoo ritual and I was drawn to dance dorkedly for their entire set, I couldn't help myself, these guys are so in the pocket.

The greatest thing about the Con is meeting up with friends and heroes from around the world. Here's some idiot hanging out with a Spanish rockstar and the guy who invented surf music. Holy shit!

Los Venturas are so swag. The music, the threads. Yeah, they played a gig the night before IN LONDON, lost their luggage, but had a great set at the Saturday night show and the next day at the HBPier. they are recording a new album this week, which I will be the first in line to buy.

Sorry I don't have more pics, but, WOW, what a blast!

One final pic.
Luthier and Phantom Surfer Mel Bergmann recovered and restored Davie Allan's iconic and completely badass Mosrite double neck. He brought it to the SG101Con for Davie to play, the first time Davie held it since 1972. Davie played Blue's Theme and Born Losers Theme on it. What a moment!!!

LOL on the Starting Gate pic - outstanding! Thumbs Up

Thanks for sharing the neat pics. (I've sent the above out to the OED folks for when they need to cite an example for the new adverb.)

That pic did startle me Ferenc, but after 1 min. I figured you were pulling my leg.
Monday afternoon, still tired!

It was so much fun watching these guys work up these songs. They had all done their homework so it was just a matter of making it all mesh together. And the camaraderie was infectious!

As many of you know, I have a newborn son this year. He was 3 weeks old this last weekend, so as a consequence, I had to tone down my level of support and participation during this year's convention week. I was able to catch a set on Thursday night, most of the convention, and the final 3 or 4 bands on Sunday. I wasn't able to make it to either after party, but I was able to still catch a good ammount. Here are some highlights/after thoughts:

Thursdays at the Pike are awesome! I hope we can keep getting gigs there. A nice venue for some up close & personal reverb!

I really like the new venue for the convention. The service was better, the vibe & feel was better, the extra space made the sound better and less piercing (at least to my ears), and just overall the experience was pretty cool. Hopefully we can get the venue again next year, and hopefully we fill it up!

Moonbase - Intense! I caught the last half of their set and was pleasantly surprised!

Boss Fink - They get better every time I see them. I've seen their first jam on the member jam stage a few years ago (under the name Finksville Five) and have caught quite a few gigs since then. Norm & Co keep turning the volume up, both literally and figuratively. Keep it up!

The TomorrowMen - They need no praise from me. They are unbelievably awesome!

The Volcanics - They killed it. So much energy and I love that frat rock vibe.

The Longboards - They made a ton of noise for a three piece. Some great playing to fill in lots of spaces.

Els-A-Phonics - Simply awesome!

Eliminators - Love that trad sound!

Davie Allan - Always cool catching a living legend on stage. That was so cool when Mel busted out that original Mosrite!

The pier show was excellent, as always. Such a highlight of every convention weekend! This was especially meaningful to me as I brought my son and got to introduce him to his extended & international "surf family". Jenny and I got so much love and excitement from so many of you, it really made it a special day for us Smile

Los Venturas - Holy crap! These guys play near perfectly, and their songs are so infectious and groovy! Not to mention they are among the nicest guys on the planet. So good seeing them again! Mexico is in for a treat!!!

Jim Messina Tribute - The Jon Blair/Ivan/Jonpaul combo seems to be a great one! Duff is great on drums too, of course. I missed the set at the convention so I was super happy to hear it at the pier. So incredible!! What will this power trio do next??? Perhaps some original material??? hint hint Wink

Thanks to Jeff for another year of reverberated bliss! Thanks to everyone who helped him (Jonpaul, Ran, Matt, Tena, etc). Thanks to the bands. Thanks Brian! And thanks to everyone who showed up and made it so fun!

Already looking forward to SG101 Con 2016!!
