u2 vs 63, huh?
The u2's look so basic, what makes them 'good' so to speak?

I think your observations are correct, but no more so IMO for a DC59 than for a Jag or a Strat. I rarely use the bridge PU by itself on those either and for just the reason you mention. There have been others, however, who used all three effectively. One example is Danny Kalb with the Blues Project. For instance on their hard rocker "Wake Me, Shake Me." (Listen to how the Dano's treble leads allow him to cut through Al Kooper's organ!) OTOH, the neck PU allows for a great chuff chuff rhythm. Between that and the two together I find the DC59 a sweet, sweet ax. So light. So funky! -don —Still rockin' after all these years! Last edited: Jan 13, 2015 11:06:26 |

You can't go wrong with either and people certainly make great music with all the models but after owning many I find the U2's and the 63's (1457 or 1449 originally) to sound the most pleasing, the most versatile. As far as pickup placement I'm just comparing Danos. http://www.facebook.com/CrazyAcesMusic |

Oh, and here's another guitarist who used one to good effect. -don —Still rockin' after all these years! Last edited: Jan 13, 2015 11:25:00 |

I have the Seymour Duncan lipsticks installed on the Strat seen below. I'm not as happy with the pickups as others here are 'cause they have a lower output. I keep 'em on this guitar anyways 'cause they look cool and as we know, it is better that the guitar look good than be good. "Hello Girls!" Last edited: Jan 13, 2015 15:32:57 |
