Each P90 is individually switchable with the 3 ('Jag Plate') switches. The switch by the vol is phase-reverse for the middle pup. The switch by the tone control changes the roll-off/hi-pass in the tone control for when you have more overdrive in the amp. —He who dies with the most tubes... wins |

I guess a single phase-reversal choice will do the ping thing – I did that with my Fauxrite Stratobastard. Please explain about that other tone switch – from lo-pass to hi-pass? Similar to 'choke' switch on Jag? tubeswell wrote: — |

Yeah similar to the jag switch. Either way (with the switch in either position) the tone pot affects tone, but the switch provides a different tone pot response in that it affects the tone pot rotation differently as you dial 'down' the tone pot. —He who dies with the most tubes... wins |

I recently built up a mahogany-bodied Tele and wired it up like a '51 Nocaster...I gotta say, with the "blend" wiring, it sounds pretty damn surfy when I'm playing out of the neck pickup. Then, a quick spin of the knobs gives me a pretty nice rockabilly sound. Last edited: Dec 20, 2014 11:19:18 |

I'm going to invert the question. How is a Jaguar for Country? A while back I had a MIJ Jag which I used primarily for Surf tunes, but our band being multi genre, I did plenty of Country on it too. At the time we were a trio, and the other guitarist played a Nashville Tele and never met an open chord voicing he didn't like. I remember one occasion, when I ripped through a chicken picked solo and both of us were amazed that the Jag had out Tele'd his Tele. I bring this up, only to serve as an example that stereotypes don't always reflect reality. If I were going to join a Country band and wanted a solid body with a vibrato I would give the Jag serious consideration. OTOH, I'd have no problem using a Tele for Surf and I have zero concerns that I wouldn't be able to get a good Surf sound. The Tele would have to have a Bigsby, but that is because I am severely Bigsby addicted and would have one on my classical guitar if such a thing were possible. I have played Surf on a Custom Telecaster FMT HH, which has a non-vibrato bridge/tailpiece and humbuckers. Tweak the knobs the right way and it sounded perfect. (That was before I became addicted to Bigsby tailpieces.) I wouldn't recommend playing Surf on an acoustic archtop with a floating pickup, but other than that I would try anything. Ever try Surf on a classical? It's an interesting sound. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

Quite a few country artists used the Jaguar in the 1960s. I know that Buck Owens talked of using one. Here's a classic for you. I think you can use any type of guitar you wish to use. The youtube video won't attach. Here's the link: https://youtu.be/KAs4Og3x6is —Matt "tha Kat" Lentz Last edited: Mar 11, 2015 12:38:52 |
