Jonny: I live 10 minutes from East Coast Music Mall in Danbury, actually they are out of business now. Jag Stang is a great guitar, I have had mine since 1996, even sounds good for surf with the right pickup combinations. Shame your girlfriend smashed it.
ludo: I LOVE that Telemaster, I am building one now too. Only mine will be natural stained a dark walnut color. Like the Elvis Costello JM.

didn't know they went outta business.
must have been on the westcoast around that time.
I've been looking at getting another one on ebay but I'll end up
putting a Mustang pg on with 2 singles.
the girlfriend didn't do the smashing...she just caused it.
I think it went out the way Kurt would have liked it to

Finally got a picture, but it came out horrible. The color is all wrong, the Bel Air Green binding does not show and the glare is bad. I'll post some better pics over the weekend. This thing is voiced like a bluesy Strat on the neck pickup and a Jazzmaster in the middle position. The bridge pickup is pure Telecaster.

This one's only a Guyatone, but if it can't surf, I don't know what can:

I'm really close to getting one of these for my Thinline Tele -
http://www.ebay.com/itm/110859582806?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_842
A little more Strat-like chime should make it surf even better!
I already have the Churchill AL-5 in the bridge and it sounds amazing.

I picked up this tele on Craigslist for $250 with the bigsby and Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups already installed. It's got great twang, and feels great. I still like my jm better for surf, but the tele has got some great mojo too.

That's a great looking Tele - love the Bigsby - and a great deal to boot.
I'm curious about your Eric Dolphy-inspired notebook though...did you buy that or make it? Out To Lunch and Out There are two of my favorite Jazz albums.

Good eyes nick! I got that notebook at a record store, it's made from an old dolphy record jacket. Eric dolphy is such an inspirational player. I really like his stuff with Coltrane live at the village vanguard, especially the bass clarinet stuff.

Agreed. The version of "Aggression" he did with Booker Little at the Five Spot is also great. They both passed too young.
Sorry to derail the tread with talk of jazz and horns. I love Teles for surf guitar. Especially with light flatwounds and a Bigsby.
