Yeaaahhh!!! Another golden Swept Wing player! Welcome!!!

You will be happy at all with this guitar!
I like it more than the 60 Custom.

Here you can see / hear me:

At this songs I just played rhythm guitar. I played this swept Wing the whole tour and it sounded good on every amp! Perfect neck!!! I just gave a stronger spring into the great vibrato unit. I did not used a case or a bag for the guitar. Just always throwed it into the car… no problem! The guitar made it at all! The superbeautiful finish is undestroyable!

have fun with it!!!

Twang cheers!

Mosrite/Hallmark PUs are way hotter than regular P90s. The output is usually somewhere in the 11-13k area.

Sancho, Ssssssssssssssssssh, that's the DC resistance of the coil.

Always trying to help,

ed

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

Thanks for pointing that out, but aren't these values usually what people refer to as 'output'? 'Hey, my bucker has an output of 18kOhms.'
I totally understand that Ohms alway display a resistance of soemthing =)
Sorry, I'm no technician.

Has anyone had issues with the barrel end of the high E string "Unwinding" on a Hallmark? A friend showed me his over the weekend saying it was the third string in a row to do this.

Something to do with the vibrato action? He says he is going to try some solder.

I use Chromes .012" on Jaguars, and I need to solder the string winds at the termination point or they will unwind during the first song. I think it has to do with big strings being pulled from one point {the tailpiece}.

They just have a bad technique of winding termination at the ball-end. Rotosounds do not have this problem.

The guitars I have played have been stellar IMO. Every bit as nice as the original Ventures model I had in the 70s. Lighter in weight too.

i got my c60 yesterday.. i like everything about the guitar except the buzzing, even after raising the bridge to a normal height(it came set really low) there are some problem areas. the neck relief is perfect. I think it needs some fret work around the the 5-8 frets at the e & b strings. sigh

Send it back to Bob at Hallmark if it is more than a setup issue. He always makes good on his products.

Hi!
All D'Addario strings, namely e and b, do. have this problem, at least with my Bigsby-equipped guitars. Thomastiks and Pyramids don't, but it might be a problem to get them. in the US. Rotosounds I do. Not like too much, either...

This is not easy to answer in a forum just with words.
I remember my 60 Custom. When it came it took me a few weeks to get a good setup with my 11-50 strings. It is not easy with adjusting the neck and so on…
And: A little bit buzzing is not a problem for me. But, yes, what is a little?
I have got two Jaguars with a little buzzing, BUT just when I play them without amp! With amp there is no buzzing to hear!

With a buzzing I first would go to a few guitar friends for different opinions.

But it is also never a problem to contact Bob Shade. We all know he is a real good good guy in this business and always helpful.

Best wishes for you and your 60 Custom!!!!

Twang cheers!

6000chickenfahitas, I don't know where you are and how far Bob had to ship the guitar. But here where I am, with cold and and warm periods, and dry and humid periods, my guitars are having a hard time keeping a buzz-free setup.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

Are you 100% sure that the buzzing comes from the fretboard? I have 'the buzz' coming from the roller bridge on my Hallmarks/Mosrites! The rollers rattle sometimes, which is quite similar to a buzz. I drown the bridge in vaseline on a regular basis to avoid this problem.

The Hicadoolas

Do you find that the Vaseline helps with reducing corosion on the Hallmark Bridge, Sancho? I have twice had to soak mine in WD-40 to get the rollers working again...

What Dave said...He actually turned me on to the solder trick. I haven't had any problems since...........

As I don't have any corrosion on my bridges, I suppose the answer is yes Wink
I don't drown them in Vaseline, tbh. I use a drenched Q-tip and go over the rollers. They start rolling anyway when you wipe over them with the Q-tip. Just pop off the string to one side before you start lubeing.

The Hicadoolas

thanks for all the tips everyone. i emailed bob and he said to put vaseline on the roller bridges but that isn't the problem. After playing with the bridge height, ive isolated the buzz to one note the 7th fret on the b string. when i say buzz thats lightly playing the note. its not a deal breaker and its nothing my luthier cant work out.

What type of setup do you guys have on your c60's action wise?

Just had to boast a little. i'm a lefty, so i've been waiting for this day. Just got off the phone with Jerry from Jerry's Lefty Guitars, and next month i should have in my possession a Left Handed Surf Pearl Hallmark 60 Custom!!!

HA! Me too (in white)! I talked to Jerry today as well - exciting eh? It really is the best option us lefties have for a mosrite clone . . . especially at the price point. Cheers to lefties (with 60 customs just a month away)!!

The Counselors

As Matt22 said, I had the Swept Wing custom, with the set neck. Wish I still had it. Not really sure why I sold it. Oh, yeah, I bought a Jazzmaster. Well, now I don't feel so bad.

The set neck was cool but, if I recall correctly, it had a Gibson scale length. Not cool. But it had good tone. The stinking bridge was a pain for me. I think it really needs lighter ga. strings than I was willing to use. The ones I had kept falling waaaay down between the posts in the middle of songs during shows. Really annoying. Then again, I play like an animal (not in a good way) and technique would help also. Really, my dog has better live technique than I do.
