The Surf Coasters mentioned their new 20th Anniversary Anthology release during the convention. It is available in japan through amazon or itunes I think.

I couldn't find the new Best of double CD on iTunes Japan... I'll ask the manager for a link. Here's some other Surf Coasters CD there:

Oh, I think there is no Atlantics tribute CD needed. Ivan and the other guys did a peeeeeerfect great job playing tese Atlantics songs live. AND Ivan did already a few of the best Atlantics songs on CD`s! So why should a complete Atlantics tribute needed? The songs can not get better.

BUT what I think: To all Surf (and other) musicians worldwide: Try to compose OWN songs that sound like a killer old Atlantics tune! Get this kind of raw energy and find a catchy killer melody and record it! This makes more sense for me.
I am working on a new song which hopefully gets in the feeling and mood of "Shark attack" or "War of the worlds" or something. It is not easy to reach the quality of an old Atlantics song of course. …maybe impossible… BUT: People, come on, let`s try it! Get you strymon El Capistan for example, your VOX AC30 and a ……..Jazzmaster …or any other elctric guitar… and go go go!!!

Thanks very much, Ralf, that's very nice of you to say! Yes, in the Cossacks we recorded four Atlantics track, and with the Madeira three (with one more coming on our next album next year). Maybe a bit too much? But man, I do love that stuff!

That's GREAT advice, Ralf! I completely agree. I've done that with both of my bands, too. And a bunch of other people have done it, too - immediately coming to mind are Aqualads' "Atlanticus" and the TomorrowMen's "Phistful of Photons"

You had some on Mundaka Calls, too! The title track and Jaws, if I remember correctly, both really cool tracks!

Yeah.... stay away from Jazzmasters, but I agree with everything else! (Though, don't forget that most of the Atlantics classic songs were recorded with the lead guitar playing through a '62 Fender Bandmaster with a 12" tone-ring cab - an AC-30 is not required.)
