Cool. Very cool.

This is Noel. Reverb's at maximum an' I'm givin' 'er all she's got.

"Gotham" would be really cool with some horns................

Awesome stuff all, thanks for putting them up here. And another vote to cut Surfin' Simon on your next; Gotham would be cool with some horns, that could be outrageously fun to see if you can snag some fun-lovin' guys to sit in.

Jeff, unfamiliar with your setup; what's the little amp under your tank? I see it in all the vids, like a carpenter has a favorite hammer?

Vol.2 is stuck in the car's player at the moment and passengers are diggin' it mightily by the way.

Gotham was great. Is the "last song" about the dog?

Badger, Thanks for watching and listening.
The amp I use almost 90% of the time is a '73 Princeton Reverb with a new cabinet in blonde and a 12" speaker. It's perfect wattage for clubs here in Nashville and records great as well.

wfoguy - yeah, that's a dedication to the band's name sake, my dog Ace who just passed away a few weeks ago. He loved guitars, amps and people who played them. An amazing animal. The song was written a year and a half ago, it's on our last record but it seemed fitting to use for him.

Thanks; sweet amp & benefit from a 12" - miss mine. Sorry to hear about Ace, that can be tough, BTDT. Looking back, you were right; best looking one of the bunch. ;)

Drive on with my thanks, you guys are infectious in the joy of your playing.

Here's "Busted & Broken" as performed at the February Southern Surf Stomp.
We'll have a few more videos from this show posted soon.
Thanks again to Chad for having us and Atlanta for being such a great audience!

'busted and broken'.......perfect tune to listen to as i do a quick, spur of the moment, sewing job for someone

www.surfintheeye.com

Awesome tune from Jeff and them Aces. Is that a Mesa Boogie?

Squink Out!

Awesome tune ! gotta love those teisco guitars......
A sidebar... I have had a bad case of PAS ( pedal acquisition syndrome) for the last 2 weeks and i spotted some in the forefront of the video....do tell, whats the secret combo?
Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I am not obsolete, I am RETRO.... Cool

Looks a bit lighter in the vid but looks like his secret Princeton weapon.

Edit: I love watchin' you guys live. Such a pleasure to see Kiwamu's work also, playing for the sake of the song. Easy to see why your records are so sharp.

Thanks for watching, listening everyone!

Carol - I guess after your sewing we need to write "Fixed & Repaired" ? Ha Ha.

JObeast - Wes is correct. It's my much used, often abused '73 Princeton Reverb with a 12" speaker and replacement cab/colors.

Teiscofan - I'm not that into pedals, latest, greatest, boutique etc. so I just use what works for me. In that video I have a EH Micro Pog, a Boss TU-2 tuner, a Joyo Ultimate Octave Fuzz, a Boss Graphic EQ, Behringer Vintage Delay and Vibrato pedals and a Pigtronix Disnortion Fuzz but funny enough - that was the last show for that board.
I've simplified it a bit, gone smaller and it now has: EH Pitch Fork, Boss TU-2, Joyo Fuzz, Boss EQ pedal, and a Zoom MS-50. The MS-50 has replaced the delay and vibrato. The old pedals were fine, sounded good to me but the Zoom allows me to do all that and more with one pedal and thus have a smaller footprint. Unless I'm doing our simulated organ sound I rarely have more than one pedal on at a time and in fact use them less than I used to.
Hope that helps

Cheers,
Jeff

Jeff, where on your records might I get a taste specifically of that Joyo fuzz? There are no vids on the net that don't have someone a) showing how fast they can possibly & obnoxiously make noise or, b) diming out the knobs (or both). Laughing

Wes,
I use that Joyo on "Arigato Terauchi" with the octave effect off
"Hippy Trip", "Numb One" "Chainsaw Dance" and "Agent Yellow Jacket" with the octave on.
In this thread there's a performance of Yuzo Kayama's "Black Sand Beach and on youtube there is a performance of the Yardbirds "over Under Sideways Down"

It's a really flexible Fuzz but you have to be willing to turn knobs, specifically the fuzz knob way down, like almost all the way for 60's sounds. It has a mid switch as well that can scoop it out and the fact that you can switch the octave on or off via a footswitch is handy for multiple sounds live. If you stay off your neck pickup with the octave on you don't get Purple Haze tones, you get Eleki like fuzz.
Also interesting - I can make this sound very similar to my Fuzzbrite pedal and my vintage 60's Ibanez fuzz just by turning knobs.
Hope that helps.
If you need more email me or PM me

Jeff

Jeff thanks for the pedal info. Been looking hard at the Joyo fuzz and you have pointed out tracks you used it On. Awesome song once again!!

No problem here turning knobs Jeff; they're round, that's what they're for, right? Smile I like that alot & it was nice to hear it on specific stuff that I already have & dig. Knowing the fuzz can go down like that it wouldn't be hard to dial in some razor-trem-fuzz chords as underlying support for clean spaghetti melody either. Your stuff is the best demo.

Thanks so much for taking the time. I think this one's going on the list for the spot where the soon-to-be unemployed OD used to be.

One more important piece of information about the Joyo Fuzz, and I think I mentioned this in another thread:
The pedal sounds best if there is a buffered pedal used along with it. It can be any buffered pedal like a Boss pedal (I use the TU-2 tuner, it is buffered) and the buffered pedal doesn't need to be activated while using the fuzz but the Joyo sounds much better this way.
Without the buffered pedal in the chain somewhere I don't like the fuzz much at all. This could be why others who have tried the pedal didn't like it or get the same sounds I do out of it.
Glad I remembered to add that!

O.K., enough pedal/gear talk for me. LOL
More music and videos!

Jeff

Here's another from the February Southern Surf Stomp featuring the host himself, Chad Shivers and also Sonny Harding on drums.
This was an unrehearsed first live performance of this new song.
