To borrow a phrase from Chuck Hughes, "I hate music, it ruined my life."
Bands are overrated, no one should play in them.

music ruined my life, but sure, it would be worse without it !!

Rattlesnake, where in the Hudson Valley are you located? I am originally from Westchester County, NY.

bIG_wAvE_Dave
I am also the founding member of The Tube Sharks. I have also been with Monster Pete & The Chiefs (circa 1998) and The Twang Ten Cowboys (circa 2004).

Time for a 2009 update:

  • I play Fender P-Bass in Surf/Instro band, The Aquamarines from San Francisco,CA, who continue working on an exciting new album.

I play Dano Longhorn Bass in the Surf/Rockabilly/Garage combo, The Twang Tens from South San Francisco, CA who are now out playing live.

I play Martin Acoustic Bass with acoustic jazz artist, The Bruce Barley Combo from San Jose, CA who perform at upscale events and locations.

I play bass in various Blues jams and the acoustic Folk scene in the San Jose/South Bay Area, CA.I also play guitar but don't advertise it because I prefer to play bass in groups. That's quite enough, thank you. Other musical history can be found on my MySpace page. Check it out and make friends! ...and the rest of you know I've been an active Surf fan forever! Is it 2009 already?

See you in the scene!

Depends what you call "A Band".

If I can only entice a drummer to sit in with us, then the Fin-Dicators will practice and play gigs.

What day is Surf Rock's birthday? Looks like Surf Rock and I was born the same year. Maybe we are both Libras?

I play lead and rhythm guitar in The TakeOffs from Hawaii. I also write, play bass, drums & keyboards on some of our studio recordings. We've been performing weekly at The Sheraton Kauai Resort for 3 and 1/2 years!
I play drums with SurfJones... a variety trio featuring blues, rock and reggae. We play every Wednesday and some Saturday nights at Tahiti Nui up in Hanalei on the North Shore of Kauai for the last 6 years.
I play guitar and keyboards as well as sing with The Blond Boys...an oldies band...mostly stuff from the 60's...they do conventions and weddings at the major resorts all over the state. I've been with them for 7 years.
I play drums and sing with The Beachnix....a British Invasion trio that also does a lot of instrumentals too. We do banquets and conventions and weddings.
I play drums with The Monday Night Experience at a club on Kauai called Trees Lounge. We've played every Monday night for a year and a half.
I also do freelance work with a variety of local groups..everything from rock to reggae to jazz to lounge etc.
I'm a full time musician, record producer, engineer. There's not too many of us left. I'm very blessed to live in Hawaii and make a living playing music. My favorite band is The TakeOffs...i grew up in a little California beach town and got to see many of the first wave surf bands and i actually surfed for many years so that's why i'm here at SG101.

Rattlesnake, too bad, I moved out of New York (not by far) but still.. too far to drive to jam. Would have liked to find some one to play with.

Our band played our first gig this month.

I play bass, Cathode Rey and Johnny Kahunna (aka SurfinJohnnyQ) trade off lead and rhythm guitars. We don't have a drummer but our Surf 101 set list is easy enough for the house band drummer to sit in.

It was a blast! Rey even got asked to join another band that night.

We wish we started this 30 years ago when we were younger.

Looking for some jazz and a little libations - js
