We are in the initial stages of putting together a SURF FEST in Jacksonville, FL in the June/July timeframe (depending on the best date for everyone) at one of our awesome downtown Jacksonville clubs. We will host, and The Nova Rays from Orlando said they are in. We'll ask the Intoxicators from Tally and the Huntsville bands KBK and it would be cool if Daikaiju could headline. If any other bands are swinging through FLA in June/July, let me know and we can try to work a date around your schedule.

We are def interested. It would require some pre-planning though (work schedules). July would probably be better for us. Please keep us in the loop and forward details as they unfold.
Thanks for supporting live Surf music!

Excellent. It looks like July 20 may be a good date. Try to keep it open and we will try to lock it down soon.

Hi ya Surfer Bill.
One of my fave "be assaulted by your NSP 10-2" spots is just south of the Jax Pier. Wipe out is my middle name.
Pencil in the Surge! Brothers while I beg them to "Go South Old Men."
Thinking of the downtown oceanside music venue? Maybe Riverwalk? Heck, any place down there sounds fun.
I do believe that Wayne is thinking Atlanta's (Clarkston/Douglasville) Surf Fest for the third weekend in June. Maybe Jamie has more info.
Thanks for the heads up.
Reverbs,
Ed

My favorite downtown club and a big beautiful venue with excellent sound is Underbelly. The owner Cameron thinks this is a cool idea and will be back in touch to confirm, but that would be perfect.
Maybe we can do a surf session at the Poles with the surfers in the crowd...although they tagged a one ton Great White there last week!

Geez,
I always thought there were way fewer incidents of sharky unpleasantness in Jax than around the Daytona and Cape areas.
It dawned on me several years back, sitting on my board (cause I don't ride it very well) about 100 yards north of the jetty at Virginia Beach that it probably wasn't a great idea to be drumming "wipeout" on my board, sitting there, in the water, dangling my feet, and waiting on something to try and ride................ I quickly became the stealth "surfer." Or at least the stealthy guy who happens to have a surfboard. I CAN spell surfboard though. When my shoulder heals from my last dirt bike get-off, I'll shore nuff get back in the water and try to improve my ridiculous lack of ability. Hardest damn thing I've ever tried to do.
It looks easy. Right.

This has really been an amazing day... In one day, this idea has blown up. We have 9 bands committed at this time to play July 20th in Jville. We have the best venue and most awesome artist in town ready to do posters. And, my band will play my latest tune Missing Summer...

I have actually heard not one word about Surf Fest this year. :-/
This, however, is looking to be a great time! Glad there has been such a big response!

Yes...cooler indeed. Lets all hope for the best. Wayne and the City of Douglasville have set up a great concept that could certainly build every year. But a repeat of 110 degree temps will certainly kill it completely.
