I would concur with the remarks about reverb and fuzz and double so on how one combines the various musical elements. Tavo from Nocturne Pedals has NAILED the fuzz sound with his Seltzerado pedal (Jason Lee does a nice demo also). I asked Tavo to modify my pedal for bass. This is a rather lame I-phone demo vid of what the bass mod might do to your neighborhood. There is also a brief demo on a Squire bass VI. I hope to do a better one soon. Spaghetti responsibly my friends.

Alessandro Alessandroni used a Strat, Jag and Jazz master on the Sergio Leoni Trilogy, according to reliable accounts. The rest is knob dicking, but bigger gauge strings help, and were widely used back then. I like flat wounds for that vintage sound.

I believe less than more reverb is also a key
