Would anyone be interested in writing reviews for SG101? Bands send me CD's or links to press packs from time to time. Most of the time I fail to write a review. I usually just don't have time. If I had a pool of people that would be interested in receiving the material and writing short reviews for the front page, that would help a lot. You have to be willing to write a review, and be able to use proper grammar and spelling. If you are interested, please reply here or send me a PM. There is no money, this would have to be for fun. You'd get to keep the material (if it came in physical form...), or we could give it away for a site contest (haven't done that in a while).
Thanks.

I could do some if you like. I think I have done a few in the forum already. However, please be aware that my favorite record of all time is The Shaggs - Philosophy of the World.

I would definitely enjoy writing reviews - I'm sure I could find time for at least 1 per week.

My favorite magazines to read reviews in back in the day were the ones that really concentrated on distributing review copies to staff that had an actual interest in the style of material, so that they could judge it more objectively.

Is this offer for the position of "official SG101 review master" or to be one of a team of reviewers? I think it would be cool if we could get a pool of people, and for each release get a couple or a few reviews out of that group - get a more comparative perspective on stuff and hopefully start more conversation that way.
I'm game to contribute! I've slowly, sadly drifted from surf of late. This will get me back in the game!

Delegate Brian delegate.
Now if you need gear reviewed, guitars, amps, cords, strings, picks, FRV-1.5 I will do.

Yes Wooza you nailed it. The hope is to start some more discussions. People send me stuff and it just sits here and I feel guilty. Time to bring more people into the tent; this is for a review team. The response has been overwhelming. I've even gotten PMs from people who have never posted in the forums before.
I don't actually get that much stuff. Maybe one a month, sometimes less. So right now I have more volunteers than material. So just be patient and I'll go through the list of folks.
Your help is greatly appreciated and should be a big win for the site.

I'd also like to remind everyone that anyone can, of course, submit reviews right now. You can post a review in our music review forum, or submit it as a news item, where it will go to the front page for a period of time. Don't wait for me to send you something.

I believe it was Ferenc who last year suggested those who submitted to the yearly comp also leave a comment for the other tracks submitted

I really like that idea. A group of reviews. Separate opinions cast and then a discussion between the team. You could keep that same team together for other reviews. You would need a few different teams if there ia a lot of material. After a while, we would learn the likes and dislikes of each member of the team. So we can interpret his/her review. The team approach adds some variance of opinions (varying degrees of likes and dislikes). The subsequent discussion among the team members would flesh out more information and give some depth. I do really like that idea.
If you need another hand, I do have some time available.
Later,
Norm

I'm interested but I'm afraid that I don't have the exposure to the complete history of instro surf to do it justice. All I have is my humble opinion. Did I mention I'm old and senile.

None of that has stopped me. Just give it a try.
