I know that some of you like this band as much as I do. The Raveonettes released a new album yesterday called 'Oberservator'. There are some choice tracks on it, including this one. And they had a fantastic EP back in April as well, with the following track. I put a couple listens into the new album yesterday, and I'm liking it quite a bit! Definitely one of my favorite bands for a long time now. Not a lot of traditional Sune guitar on the new album, which is quite nice! They have a B-sides album(only 500 copies pressed...) and there are some really great songs in a somewhat similar vein. They are more adventurous vocally, some really cool beats, and varied rhythms in the guitars. |

Yes, the EP was really good. Both of these releases really gelled well with me, which I am thankful for, as Raven In The Grave has yet to do so. It isn't a bad album. It just isn't one I can put on and listen to all the way through. The B-Sides album is great as well, despite the fact that I already had 95% of the material on it. I am not sure if you ever heard Sune's 90's band, Psyched Up Janis. I can't say that I am a huge fan. It is pretty generic 90's rock. Sune also put out a native language solo album a few years back. I believe it was a free release. It is no departure from Raveonettes. I love Tremolo Beer Gut, but that band still exists in quality without Sune. The Raveonettes, on the other hand, offer something different that wouldn't have been accomplished has he remained with TBG. I will argue that Raveonettes put out too frequent of material to be consistent, but every album has had something magical to offer, IMHO. I will say, though, that I really would love a return to the Jesus and Mary Chain meets Surf sound of Chain Gang of Love...at least for a few tracks. Yeah, fantastic album! My favorite albums(counting White it On as an album) Still too early to rate the new album. Sune's solo album would be after Pretty in Black. And Pretty in Black would be my number album if it weren't for that dreadful My Boyfriend's Back cover. I love them all though! Check out Black Wave and Black in White if you haven't heard those tracks. They have an absolutely amazing collection of b-sides/non-album tracks/unreleased tracks. |

My favorites go...hmmm... Chain Gang of Love I am with you on having not decided about the new one yet. As you can see, I have liked each album a bit less since Chain Gang came out. However, this makes sense, as what originally attracted me to them was the blatant Jesus and Mary Chain influence, which has dwindled down to nearly nothing by now. Yeah, I am fond on the three EPs as well, especially that Christmas one. The only thing they've ever done that I don't like are covers. My Boyfriend's Back and that I Wanna Be Adored cover. I love the Stone Roses, but I felt they didn't capture the song right. I have no complaints about your order! Any order is a good order as far as I'm concerned. I would rank the B-sides album after Whip it On on my list. Whip It On is amazing... Love listening to it. Got the vinyl for $10, absolute steal. I have everything on vinyl except the Attack of the Ghostriders 7". I should just splurge on it so I have a complete set... I just really love that band... |
