First I tried it out on the car stereo (day off work, cruised around town allowing the locals a chance to enjoy some killer surf blaring out the car windows) and then on the home cd player where it may reside for awhile. Excellent stuff! Top

Hard-hitting, fast, but with a strong sense of melody and dynamics. I love it! Did I say that already? I love it. Great job guys. Beyond that, my hope for this thing is that the average surf listener will give it a spin, look down into their pants, and say to themself: "where have my balls been this whole time?" Hopefully that's happened at least once. Again, it can't be stressed enough how much Ferenc's help made this possible. We probably would never have recorded if he hadn't pushed us to do so, and we certainly wouldn't have done it well if he hadn't taken the lead on it. We owe you! Top

The one thing that I think demonstrates that beyond a shadow of a doubt is the breakdown in Karabasan, where you pause only to have the lead guitar play one of the coolest ascending lines I've ever heard, leading the band right back into the song. That's not the sort of a thing you can ever learn to write. That's just pure inspiration and pure creativity. It gives me the shivers every time. That songs is just pure adrenaline, anyway, one of the most energetic surf songs ever! Love it sooo much! Love all the other ones, too (well, I'm not completely crazy about Dark March - who is that by, anyway?). Hagbelly reminds me of Satan's Pilgrims playing El Caliph by my own little band. It sounds like what that song would sound like played by a band that can actually groove. Love the ska-nkiness of Janky Jank (very Treblemakers-like!), and the 'chorus' part (the chromaticly descending line) is again just one of those purely inspirational things. Love the super-dark vibe as well as the drum solo in Obey, and especially how the song comes out of the drum solo with that marching snare beat - again, pure inspiration! And excellent control and understanding of dynamics. Oh yeah, and I love the short descending line out of The Saracen - thanks! I'm honored. Gooch in Space is a wonderful continuation of the Journey-To-The-Stars/Third-Star-To-The-Left type of space/surf song, and it works completely - a great album opener, too. Honestly, I find myself frequently dissolving into giggles as I listen to this CD, due to just being amazed how good it is. And I mean everything about the CD: the production, the songwriting, the sounds, the musicianship. I don't know how you guys got so good so young - I wish I was! And Ferenc, THANK YOU for the significant role you had in making this CD happen! All surf music fans owe you a great debt of gratitude. So, in conclusion, yes, it's a decent CD. I like it. Attached below is the only version available, never heard the original. Also, I think that we where really tight as a band because we would basically get together almost every Saturday afternoon and rehearse. But with words like stunning, power, dangerous, ferocious, monster, dark, ominous (and even fun) thrown around... I'll take it. Warren I'm curious to hear what you thought of it. Let's break in that concept of an honest review that was coined months ago. Also, I have to say thank you (!!!) to Ivan! Really, I'm SO glad you liked it this much. You were pretty astute in noticing many of the similarities between these songs and others. This whole disc is full of guess-which-song-they-ripped-off-for-that-part moments :lol:, with that Saracen lick in Obey being one of them. Oh and the drum roll opening to Karabasan: it's a pretty minor detail, but Desert Drums starts off the same. That was Jonathan's subtle nod to Dane! Top
