The Lively Ones Surf Rider

The Ventures - Live in Japan 65

That CD changed my world!

I happened to be working at a record store when this came in; The Goldentones, Atlantis. Special Thanks to Joseph Zito, Dominic Zito and Chad Everet Lewis... I'm still hooked on surf - older & newer.

Tough to find now, but this website actually has a few sound clips (granted they have the release date wrong, my disc says 1994 on BigMom - which was real close to when I picked it up): http://www.grokmusic.com/artistPage.cfm?p_id=P+++187218

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

I guess, this one, which I got in 1974(?):

Real wrecking crew gold there. As a kid I did not appreciate that fact. When I got the LP, I was sorely disappointed that it did not include the Batman incidental music, which I had planned to use as my own personal soundtrack for play fighting with my two brothers. But I played it until it wore out.

SSIV

I got the Dick Dale Better shred than dead compilation. It's a great comp.

Dick Dale - Greatest Hits... very original right? But it sure as hell hooked me in!

Either "The Surfaris Play Wipeout" (Decca) or "Surfin' With The Astronauts". I can't remember which I got first. I already had a few Ventures Albums.

the first one would be The Beach Boys in Concert, the one with papa-om-mow-mow, little old lady from pasadena, etc..., and both a BB greatest hits and a Ventures greatest hits. The instrumental fever came a long time afterwards.

I used to go to a record fair at a town near the Naval Station of Rota (south of Spain) in the early 90s. I found there my two first Ventures albums: Walk Don´t Run 64 and The Ventures On Stage, both little bit smashed Dolton first pressings. I was totally stoked… the sound, the beat, the Mosrites, the picture covers of the previous LPs…!! Of course, I still own these copies.

surfaris play surfer joe and wipe out, was also the first 45 i ever bought. astronauts and ventures after that. long time ago.

Enjoying the surf,sun and sand!!

My Mum's copy of Bombora by Sydney's very own Atlantics...its a family heirloom!!!
