It's perfectly ok not to like the artwork, but don't slag the effort. Some guy or gal spent probably several hours of their time making that for the site and getting it the right size, etc. and that is to be applauded.
Seriously.
And if you prefer one to the other, print that one out instead. The SG101 Secret Police isn't going to kick your door in and haul you away in the middle of the night if you choose to do so.

No one expects the SG101 Secret Police.
Someone add in SG101 shirts or ... I dunno, replace the crosses with reverb tanks or something.
That can be the cover art for the comp.

What no one likes Jack Johnson I take ?
Seriously it's a good gesture on the behalf of the anonymous designer. I will in fact work on making my own cover for this awesome comp.I would like to thank everyone who contributed their excellent music to this. Some of the bands even surprised my friends who aren't die-hard surf/instro fanatics like I am.
Job well done by all!

That would be the SG101 Secret Police. But any secret police would look bad ass like these guys:

Our chief weapon is surprise...surprise and fear...fear and surprise.... Our two weapons are fear and surprise...and ruthless efficiency.... Our three weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency...and an almost fanatical devotion to surf music.

Perfect.
Does this mean the comp's renamed "No One Expects the Surf Guitar 101 Inquisition '09?"

Those SG101 Secret Police suck. I think we should use these:

Well now I've done it. I was trying to correct some mp3 tags on the files at archive.org and now norcalhodad's entry "Meatyard" has been deleted and it won't let me add it back. But you can still get it from this site in the downloads section.
There is no technical support at archive.org and no way for me to delete the whole thing. I guess I could make a whole new page with mostly redundant info.

I was going to suggest the forum, but I see you've already posted. There don't seem to be a lot of replies to other messages posted there. I did find this though in reference to having your stuff removed after deleting your account, so I assume if you contact them, they can delete the whole 2009 comp, and you can add it again - "If you would like your items removed, please contact us at info AT archive DOT org...."

Thanks Jeff. I'll ask them to delete it and I can start over if worse comes to worse.

Norcalhodad, I've still got "Meatyard" on my mp3 player!
Brian - all the best with this - I don't envy you, but you often come up with the goods in the end.

I listened to the entire compilation last evening during a drive from Ventura, through Malibu to Hermosa Beach. You can all be assured that your song was part of the soundtrack to the Pacific and played at full volume at least once. There are some excellent songs on there, what I love is that no 2 guitarists sound the same, despite using similar or even identical equipment, just like the old days.

The norcalhodad mp3 fiasco is finally over. Joe's track is back on archive.org. They never responded to my email or forum request but all of a sudden the problem I was having went away and I was able to re-upload.
I'd encourage everyone to give a small donation to archive.org if you find their service valuable.
