Here's a list of live shows by The Mermen. There's quite a few of them. I don't know if I'll be able to listen to all of them in my lifetime.

Here is another list from this site, which is the reason for this posting.

That's quite a list. About 95% of the artists are unknown to me. My question to the group is, which bands play surf music? Other than the Surf Coasters, it's kind of hard to tell what type of music they play by the name. Does anyone know any of these bands? Which ones are worth listening to?

The only surf/instro bands that I know of on the Archive besides
the Mermen and the Surf Coasters are the Shi-Tones (Mermen
offshoot of more traditional surf), Man or AstroMan and of course
the great SG101 member compilations. I haven't gone through
the index in a while, though. That ought to keep you busy for
quite a long time.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the tip on the Shi-Tones. I passed on them thinking they were a Motown style band.

Here's some you can cross off the list as possible surf bands:
50 Foot Wave
Rogue Wave
Aquaphonics
Aqua Port
Land Of Atlantis
The Wave
Baghdad Scuba Review

I like other forms of music, too, but I didn't like any of these. I still have a bunch to check.

Yeah, me too. There's some great acoustic guitar there that works much better than I would have thought for surf.

I'll have to go back (tomorrow - it's late now) and get me some of that.

I'm not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.
