I thought 100's of Fender guitar bodies were going to crash down on my head.... lots of screaming, and diving under benches... we all was 'a runnin' outside!

~dave

That's the way I want to go..

Dave,
Don't they dry those things up in rafters? Spooky. Glad you're ok. d

On my first trip to Diablo Canyon in the '70s I had arrived in San Francisco by air and spent the night drinking in the hotel bar. The next morning I woke up and was watching in wonder as the chain lamp above the bed appeared to be dancing around. I thought to myself, "Damn dude, how much beer DID you drink?" When I was at the front desk checking out, the clerk asked, "How did you like our little tremor this morning?" I'm glad that was it as I didn't really want to give up drinking beer..................Sure hope all are alright out there...............ed

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

There's a net, but, the preservation of life gene kicks in despite that.

rock on,
~ dave

Dave, you gotta keep those work benches clear underneath for just such an occasion. Diving under her workbench kept my wife from being crushed by a wall of falling mouldings during Loma Prieta ('89)

Just had a 5.8 earthquake here. Rock n roll!!

Thanks for the Positive vibes man,

actually I didn't even feel it, I was outside by a pool, and didnt even notice it till the mexican house maid came out saying earth shake earth shake.
I'm like huh, what?
then looked up and saw one of those propane outside heaters swaying a bit.
I dont freak out till they 7.0 or bigger.

dont worry people it was a 5 . something
nothing to worry about.

Absolutely BTD!
My motorhome was rockin' last night with at least a 8.0 on the richter scale! I told that "Burnin' Mike Vernon" to take his new girlfriend elsewhere, but he didn't listen. Not to mention, him and Insect Dave drank all my Coors Light too! Those bastards!!

Be careful following the masses. Sometimes the "M" is silent...........................

This is a e-mail Paul Johnson sent out saying that he will be at the sg101 event, and explains about the Pounding Surf DVd they will be showing.

Friends and surf music fans ‹

We¹ve got a very cool event lined up for you this coming Saturday
(August 2); I will be at the day-long SURFGUITAR101.COM
CONVENTION & SHOW which is being held at SUZY¹S BAR & GRILL in Hermosa Beach
(1141 Aviation Blvd.). This is your opportunity to schmooze with top surf
musicians and fans from all over the country (and beyond). From noon to 2 PM
there will be tables set up for a casual ³swap meet² where equipment, CDs,
T-shirts, etc., will be traded and sold (and where you can cruise around and
chat with your favorite musicians...); this will be followed by a
star-studded jam session that is sure to include some memorable performances
by some of the genre¹s great players.

I look forward to playing some tunes and displaying some of my memorabilia
there; but for me, the highlight of the event will be the WORLD PREMIERE of
the DVD (entitled ³POUNDING SURF!²) that I have been working on over the
past couple of years. (In addition to being a featured musician and
narrator, I also did the editing; accordingly, I'm delighted to have this
opportunity to show and offer the finished product to everyone at the
convention!)

The DVD, which was the brainchild of drummer Bob Colwell with a little help
from Matt Quilter, Dusty Watson, Tracy Longstreth and myself, includes TWO
complete programs totaling nearly three hours in length: one part, ³THE ART
OF SURF DRUMMING,² fulfills the original goal for a ³surf drum instructional
video² with tips and lessons from four of the best drummers in surf music;
out of this grew the companion project, ³A DRUMMER¹S GUIDE TO SURF MUSIC² ‹
a comprehensive documentary of the surf genre that includes a definitive
history of how the music evolved over the years (highlighting both the
³traditional² and ³progressive² aspects of the movement), along with a lot
of great performances and special features. While all of this is presented
with a drummer¹s perspective in mind, the documentary WILL be of great
interest to all surf music fans, and even to a general audience.

We will be showing highlights from the DVD at our table from 12 2 PM ‹ I
do hope you can be there to see this!

I Haven't had a Coors lite in almost 10 years proud to say.
Wink

Jeff(bigtikidude)

I posted this before, but nobody really commented.
Tom, who is doing the "sounds of surf" documentary will be filming the bands,
and also doing some audience shots.
I hope that everybody is cool with possibly being on film.

he will also be doing some one on one interviews with people to be possibly
put in the film.
Hopefully I can redo mine, as the one from Feb at Linda's party was not a good interview. I was dying sick and in a bad mood.

it would be funny to see as a out take though.

I'm OK with it. That's never made me beautiful, though.

I think the last time I had a Coors of any sort was 1976. It's not like I haven't drunk some pretty embarassing stuff since then, though. Michelob, for example. Tastes a bit like mushrooms, except I like mushrooms.

So whats the best beer for surf music?
