Honestly though, you can't make sustain out of no sustain, and you can't take sustain away. I can just picture how the 12-string is going to sound and it makes me shudder. Isn't the point of the 12-string just an excuse to buy a Rickenbacker? Top

Spud Joined: Jul 23, 2007 Posts: 666 Oz	Posted on Oct 10 2007 12:16 AM Well considering that a Line 6 guitar has no actual pickups and the VG Strat does there's a world of difference, some good and some bad I'm led to believe. The Fender is still an American Series Strat regardless of the on board modelling whereas the Line 6 cannont be played as a normal guitar. The Line 6 allows upgrading of its modelling patterns whereas the Fender allows no sucha thing. Apples & oranges. However the idea of being able to change the sound of the guitar by flicking a switch/dial appeals to me as the amount of cover songs we do is quite varied and the tonal differences many. So being able to get a new sound more appropriate for the song by just flicking a switch on the guitar is very tempting. The Rickenbacker Jake, would be mainly because I like the look of those guitars and not much else. I acquire these things now simply because I like them, I brought this VG Strat topic up because people on this forum are a pretty knowledgable bunch regarding gear and I thought maybe somebody had some further info on them.
