The VM Squire Jaguar is getting a departure from anything ordinary. The wiring, 3 way blade switch and CTS pots have already been upgraded from my last rebuild. Last edited: Sep 23, 2023 07:43:41 |

I would never really have considered of doing this pickup exchang, if it were not for the outrageous deal I got on a set on eBay. |

Ok. I have seen one of those before. With recent Asian ancestry in one branch of my family tree, I am fascinated by all things Asian, so I have to say that this is very cool. If it proves impractical for playing, it’s still an interesting curiosity to have around the house. Dang! Now you’ve got me wanting a Shamisen, or maybe a girlfriend from Japan. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

My Japanese girlfriend comment was entirely tongue in cheek. I am of 1/8 Asian ancestry, which is to say that I am mostly Caucasian in appearance, with the exception of my eyebrows, which are directly from the Gobi. The Asian ancestry in my family was kept as a family secret for years; a rumor that was denied, in spite of the fact that my grandmother and at least one uncle and one aunt had an epicanthic fold on their eyelids. A DNA test confirmed the rumor and eventually I was able to pry the truth out of the family history. I hold no preconceptions about Asian culture. Beneath the surface, all cultures, earthwide, have an exceptional degree of similarity. We may adapt to local conditions; for example, a culture which forms in a costal area will develop a different economy from a desert culture, but the basic rules are pretty similar. I worked on an Indian Reservation for nearly two decades. The striking thing about being exposed to their culture, was how American they were. Backyard cookouts and pot luck gatherings were part of their culture, long before they were exposed to European immigrants. The American frontiersman was an amalgam of British and Native American influences. At the bottom of it all, humans are pretty much the same, everywhere. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

It's off the workbench and sounding awesome! Overall the new Jag JB sounds nearly identical to a Jaguar with AVRI 62' PUs. They only differ when you begin to add overdrive, either through an amp or pedal. That's when 60 cycle hum is more obvious on the Jag 62' I own a new Jeff Beck Stratocaster to also compare. They both exhibit similar power levels and obvious noiseless characteristics as expected. I also was not sure what to expect with the use of 1Meg pots or the rhythm section. The range sweep is as good as it gets. The rhythm section is great too, maybe best I have experimented with
