Thanks for the question, it’s nice to get some interaction. My posts seem to go unnoticed around this place.
I’ve always thought the Jazzmaster switch was in a weird spot so when I had the opportunity to do my own, I positioned it so it would be in line with the volume knob, following the line from both pickup covers and the neck/strings. It also worked out to be pretty much in the middle of the open area below the neck pickup, so that was a happy accident.

I understand the interaction, it’s not quite as robust as it was years ago.
I’m not as wild of a strummer so was in years past, but I would worry about accidentally hitting it. I take it, that hasn’t come up. I’m not sure if I would hit now, but back in the day. . . .

I can strum with great enthusiasm, which I do, and happily live in between the switch and the volume knob. That was the other big point to my layout, not having a tone knob, to keep controls to a minimum. You probably noticed there is also not a rhythm circuit.
This will be a back up guitar for me on stage, and was also a cool exercise in paint and layouts. I feel like I leveled up during this build.

Taifighter, what's that pickup on the previous version of your JM build? Looks unusual.
FWIW, I also play rather enthusiastically, and would be in danger of hitting that switch constantly. Happens quite a bit with my Yamaha SGV. Of course, the switch on that guitar is oriented more up/down rather than side to side, so that makes a difference.

That is a Carrillo, custom wound for my buddy who plays metal. It’s really hot. I tried it out for a bit but decided that this build is better suited as a backup guitar rather than a high gain fire breather.

I know I’m not Tai, but you can find lots of variations of that tailpiece on eBay and reverb. Also, you can check out Faction’s website where they have all sorts of jag/jazz plates for $50 each (unique but pricy).

This is a good resource to know about. $50 for a control plate is indeed pricey, but they've got so many options, and those can lead to so many new projects. I'm now tempted to do a 12 string Jaguar or Jazzmaster some day.

Came from Reverb.
I don’t need it anymore, do you have use for it?

Seeing all the amps people here have built sucked me into doing the same. So my current project is a Fender 6G2 circuit (Brown Princeton). I've got it all done and working at last, with not so great photo posted below. I built it using a Fender Sidekick 35 Reverb cabinet and chassis, so things were a bit tight but workable. Now I'm at the fine tuning stage to tame some harshness in the overdriven sound.

I got some good things happening!
The amplifier and speaker cabinet getting a whole new makeover.
Will be posting a separate topic soon when done!

Here's one of my current porjects: a 2-tube reverb unit based on the Lamington Reverb circuit. It's simpler and cheaper to build than a 6G15 tank. Uses a 6BX6 and a 12AX7 and no need for a reverb transformer or choke. I've got it to the point I can test it out, and after a bit of debugging, it works. And to answer your questions, yes, it drips!
I still need to tweak some things in the circuit to get the tone and the reverb level where I think they should be.

Welp - close but no cigar ... this was turning out to be pretty epic, but I got a bit heavy-handed level sanding the clearcoat. Burned through and scuffed up the paint in 2 spots. Candy colours are virtually impossible to touch up without it looking odd. So I'm currently sanding this back to the primer coat and will re-start. Totally gutted.

I like your jig! Those colors are pretty cool. Reminds me of The Nature Company in the 90s. Or a beetle!

Following my post from 2 weeks ago, I took the finish back down to the primer and started over. No issues this time, turned out pretty suhweet.
