I think it was made at the Corona factory. It is confusing to me, as I researched this question. I bought it new in September 1986. The serial number starts with a V which I think stands for vintage. I am not sure any of the V serial numbers came out of Japan at that time. I am, by no means, a Fender historian and this is what I have gleaned from a Google search.

Kick ass arsenal! Is that the Squier Silver Sparkle Jag? How does it play stock? Any mods?

Yes, that’s CV 60s Squire Silver Sparkle. No mods besides 12-52 flats)
I have also ordered Staytrem tremolo arm, don’t see any reasons for other mods, it’s so good.
You can hear it on this EP, all the tracks are recorded with this Jaguar.

The sound mostly is not processed at all, just amp and some pedals, so you may hear the guitar sound)

Awesomeness! I’ll definitely check out those tracks… I loved the last one you linked to!

I’m torn between grabbing the Silver Sparkle Squier or a 40th Anniversary Jazzmaster….. too hard to decide! Have you tried the 40th Anniversary Squiers yet? According to all the reviews I’ve seen it’s Squiers best guitar yet……

And 10-48 flats. ;)

No other mods, but these guitars often need some love out of the box. Mine had a stripped screw head and needed about 2 hours to get everything set up right - if I was tweaking the nut as well (RedFeather decided to on his new one - they're bone, but tend to be cut a little conservatively and can stand to be dropped a touch), would have taken a bit longer.

On mine, the arm stayed up for about 3 days before it worked "droopy", and also developed a slight but annoying rattle. If you're in Europe, a Staytrem arm is a cheap and excellent fix. If you're in the US, an "AVRI" or "AV" trem is a better all-round fix as you also get a lock and usually a better pivot point, though the arm set-up on it is inferior to the Staytrem.

great shot!

is the upper silver sparkle a slightly different color than the lower one? Like a champagne color which I love

Sorry, didn’t try anniversary as I have a nice Jazzmaster already.
I had a chance to try try in shop couple of CV Jaguars (60s and 70s) and Vintera Jaguar and then I have ordered Silver Sparkle cause it impressed me the most. After buying Jaguar I almost do not play Jazzmaster and really think of selling it…

I love that appearance with that arm, but I didn’t see one like that at StayTrem.

I will definitely suggest the AVRI tremolo, for any Jag’/Jazz’/VI.

I have a collet on order. I emailed John today, and he will send me the all-chrome version of the wiggle stick. Thanks for the info.

I bought a 5 pickup guitar from Sawtooth a while back called the ES Hybrid. It's got two humbuckers and three single coils.

The cool thing about it is that you can mix the humbuckers and coils together at the same time. The neck humbucker and bridge single coil sound awesome when turned on together.

I'll be using it this Saturday for a quick 30 minute surf music jam.

Btw, I have ordered two arms and received the following answer:

“Hi

The waiting time before shipping is approximately 26 weeks from order date.

Best Regards

Hm, maybe I am just lucky, but the tremolo bar I got with my Jaguar works just fine, stays in place and does what a tremolo arm is supposed to do. At one point the arm on this or my other guitar went indeed a bit droopy, but that was fairly easily fixed with the fact that I could apparently just screw it back tight and since none of the two bars I have are giving any trouble in that department.

But there would be no way in cold hell, I'd wait half a year before they even get shipped out. Being in Europe, that would add another month before you have them at home. On top of that I am sure the bars will not be cheap and adding to that shipping costs, taxes, more taxes, import duties and you end up with more than I wish to spend on a tremolo bar. But nevertheless I hope it works out for you.

I have, at the moment, five StayTrem items on order, and the wait time has consistently been listed as 26 weeks. To me, it’s worth it. My AVRI trem works pretty well, but I expect that the swinging trem arm problem will show up in time, so I think it’s worth the wait. I also ordered StayTrem bridges for my Bass VI and my Warmoth Jaguar build. I’d be thrilled if they showed up today, but I can wait. I like the concept of using nylon to prevent the tram arm from flopping about.

There's a simple reason why the wait is so long - they're popular, and they're popular because they're great.

As mentioned several times elsewhere, I also had a nylon-sleeve fitted to my Jagmaster blocks to similar effect. It's so simple, but so effective!

It sounds like a great product.

Anything with Fender or Squier on the headstock, single coil pickups & a trem. Full stop. Simple.
